Good win for the minors last night.Shield final against Roscommon coming up so another game to be played which is great.I think the big question now regarding these young lads and teams coming along behind them is where do they go from here? Will Mayo Galway Roscommon be handing out trimmings to these lads in 5 or 6 years at senior? What are other counties doing from now on with their minors that turn them into Div 1 standard players?I've repeatedly said that we have just as good underage players in Leitrim as any other county,we mightn't have as many but we have them.It should actually be an advantage to have a smaller pool so they can be identified easier.

Sligo also beat Roscommon - what odds on a Leitrim v Sligo Connacht final?
(Mayo look to be the team to beat though)."
Leitrim v Sligo won't happen . Leitrim play Roscommon in shield final. Sligo play Galway in semi final with winners playing Mayo in Connacht final

Great to see positive results and performances at under 17 level I believe a lot of this group is underage next year.

There is, and teams will go up and down based on merit. Not sure if it is in the Spring league or not, think that is kind of a friendly competition too. But it is in ACL and Reserve ACL so back to business as usual, never mind slagging clubs that do what they can with the resources they have.

What are you talking about? Where have I slagged any club?

Whilst it was great to see that result, did Galway use it as an opportunity to give some peripheral lads a run seen as they were already through to the semi-final? It's important to keep things in perspective but it was still great to see an underage side on the right side against Galway / Mayo.
It's a pity that Roscommon team couldn't do us a favour against Sligo. We'll keep an eye out for that crop nonetheless.

How are we looking for this Antrim game? I spoke with one of the Players last week and it sounds like they want to put the Galway display to bed. They have knuckled down and they are going to give it a lash against Antrim.

Best of luck to them.

that was not aimed at you. it was aimed at the wind up merchant that does not know how the league was ran due to covid.

I hope they are preparing for it better than "we are going to give it a lash". It should be a game we can win so unfortunately anything other than a win on Saturday should be seen as a failure.

yes and is obviously from Roscommon and is trying to belittle everything we try to do in this county. probably best ignored to be honest.

Hah .. it's more of a paraphrase and there was definitely some assertion there from what I remember ! I agree though. The bounce we got from Moran's appointment will be for nothing if we lose this.
You wouldn't know what sort of team or attitude Antrim will have but I'm thinking we should be beating them well with the game in Carrick.

I reckon it will be a tight game but a game we should be winning all the same if we want to call this year a success. As for winning the game well im not so sure. A win is a win and I'll take it any way it comes. Hopefully the team is a bit more united and together compared to the lead up to the London and Galway games. I haven't heard anything as of yet on how Beirne is carrying on now. Hopefully his wings have been clipped after his punishment for his behaviour in the weeks presiding the Galway game. Its probably a good sign we've heard nothing for now.

We'll see where Leitrim are really at on Saturday against a team which would be the 4th strongest in the competition according to league position. Of course that probably is overstating the position a bit but Antrim are certainly a team that we should not taking for granted even with home advantage. Do I think we can beat Antrim? I think they will have a bit too much for us but am more than happy to be proven wrong on that. Like Tipp, a win would certainly a boost for what has been a poor season.

On paper they are a stronger outfit yes, but we have beaten them in the recent past and they are no Mayo/Galway, we have no reason not to believe we can beat them if we set up right and take our chances when we get them.
A narrow loss I could accept but a hammering would defo set back any progress made under Moran, we need to step up at some point and start beating teams supposedly stronger than us, look at Derry and what they have achieved

This is definitely a game we can win especially at home.A good dry day will suit our forwards.

Was anyone else at the Div 1 Reserve league final last weekend. A really poor game. Ino both teams were missing there county lads and after all its just a glorified preseason competition. But seriously would've thought the standards would be higher. Ballinamore the better team. Mohill came back into the game before half time with two fortuitous goals but Ballinamores class pulled them through in the second half. Ballinamore young keeper Blessed looks a serious talent for the future the young man only has been playing the game 2-3 years so might not have the ball skills yet but by god does he have some kickout.
