yep, heard he was only coming back from injury, certainly did not think he had a poor game,

Replying To The_analyser:  "Yesterday final won't live long the memory though it shouldn't taint what was a good and enjoyable Intermediate championship.

My Intermediate championship team of the year

Mark Miley (St Dominics) moment of madness yesterday but was the stand out keeper at this grade making a number of top drawer saves.

Karl Nerney (St Faithleachs) played his part in a solid defensive showing through out this campaign

Mickey Cox (St Faithleachs) best full back on display I thought, good awareness and positioning

Kieran Connaughton (Clann na nGael) linked defence to attack well and one of Clanns stand out players as they reached semi final to the surprise for many.

Jack Lohan (St Dominics) this is his natural position I feel but played the majority of the championship in midfield and performed well, a bright future ahead for the county U20 player.

David Flynn (Clann na nGael) still good enough to be featuring for their A team, shows a lot of leadership, drives team on and sets a lot of attacks going.

Eoin McCormack (St Dominics) good defender and reader of the game with the ability to set his side on the front foot and very consistent championship for him

Tom Appleby (St Dominics) good championship he had and one of the most improved footballers at this grade, clearly injured yesterday and had to be taken off.

David Rooney (St Faithleachs) not his natural position but was arguably one of the best performers of this championship and chipped in with 15 points from that position.

Jonathan Hester (Castlerea) played in different position and very versatile footballer, impressive in all the Castlerea games I watched.

Darren Donnelly (St Dominics) a huge loss yesterday due to illness, scored 8-17 in the 5 games coming into this final. Last year I think he scored 6 goals. One Dominics goal could have proved the difference yesterday and Darren playing could have swung that contest.

Ciaran Murtagh (St Faithleachs) few better team players or ones that provide more work rate. Creates so many scoring opportunities for his teammates and still scored 0-20 himself.

Adam McDermott (Castlerea) just turned 19 a few weeks ago I hope both club and county go all out to make sure this lad reaches his true potential. Scorer of 6-18 in the Championship and all the more impressive when you consider he was double and trebled marked at times.

Conor Cox (Eire Og) back to his 2019 form that had the national media talking, hopefully he can continue this form into 2022. Top scorer in this championship from just 4 games with 2-41

Diarmuid Murtagh (St Faithleachs) pulled his side out of a number of sticky situations, he probably displayed the best individual display of the championship in the extra time quarter final win over Fuerty

Others that impressed me and was considering, Niall Kilroy, Connell Kennelly, Kevin Farrell, Daire Keenan, Brendan O'Meara,, Darren Gately, Aengus Lyons, Denis Barron to name but a few."
Did you see any or many that should be on the County team that are not already on it?

Compared to last year's intermediate final this year's was an absolute arm wrestle. If ourselves last year's final was played 5/6 weeks earlier. The downpour at around 2.30pm prior to throw in lasted nearly 30 minutes and speaking to ground officials if it arrived half an hour earlier it would have left them with a decision to make. Pitch started to hold water at one stage as it is hard and compact.

Two evenly matched teams over past 18 months and both missing key men coming into the match. Both very fit and well organised and both had their homework done on each other. It was one of the most physical matched I've seen in a long time due to the weather conditions and breeze. Kick passing was difficult as players weren't sure of their footing and when they dis kick it was generally to the corner where forwards had too much ground to cover to get a run on the defender. It was only in extra time when the match finally opened up..

A lot of criticism for the referee but to be fair there wasn't a lot he could do about the stop start nature of the match due to the seriousness of the injury stoppages. It wasn't a dirty .arch aside from the melee at the end which was .one hand bags and bar one or two and he dealt with it correctly. 5 players ended up receiving hospital treatment after the match due to injuries received from actually contesting the ball. There was two blood stoppages, one concussion stoppage, a dislocated finger and the most serious one at end of normal time with faithleachs no.7 breaking his collar bone so the ref had no option with those stoppages which took took anyrhing from 2 to 8 mins to deal with.

I thought he got 3 calls wrong in the match 1.) Not allowing Dara Keenan the advantage for the Doms disallowed goal. He had whistle blown alright but should have held off a tad longer, 2.) Last play of normal time where faithelachs dispossed the Dominics player in midfield and had a three man overlap and he gave a free to Dominics and the 3.) Not awarding back card at start of extra time when Ciaran Murtagh straight through was pulled to ground and he bottled the black card and gave a yellow.

Overall it was an intriguing match and exciting at times with flashes of quality. Faithleachs started the better team and went 2pts up and should have been 4pts before Dominics took over after the water break until half time. 2nd half was a similar pattern where faithleachs scored 3 pts to lead 5pts to 4pts and Doms came back with faithleachs getting the equaliser.

In extra time faithleachs took over after Doms got the 1st point. Faithleachs big players came to the fore in extra time. Diarmuid Murtagh should have goaled. Ciaran Murtagh very productive in extra time as was David Rooney. Kevin Farrell also started getting on ball and running the flanks. Eoin McCormack who was very good in normal time ran out of legs. Tommy Hurley was so out on his feet and he was the main outlet for Doms during oral time. Keith Doyle had his moments but lack of match time in recent weeks was obvious.

Hopefully weather for next sundays senior final is better but not promised great. The earlier start of 2pm may also help players. The junior final on the day before so grass may be longer this week to protect the pitch for two matches. Very hard and slippy last week so they won't be cutting it..

I felt sorry for the poor lad not near match fit a 20 minute cameo might have been better for him. A game he will not want to watch back very poor

Hard to know, whatever intermediate players are called up a decent opportunity has to be given to them to impress. Div 2 gives us the platform to try out new faces moreso than Div 1.

The likes Eoin McCormack, Daire Keenan, Jack Lohan Michael Cox, Connell Kennelly are a few that's worth looking at Keith Doyle also but depends on his injury situation.

Aengus Lyons was on the panel before and may get a recall, he had a good football and hurling club championship. Adam McDermott will likely remain with the U20s seeing that competition is to commence in the spring

Yeah I agree. Division 2 gives you a lot more flexibility to try new players and new things. To me it's what the League is all about.

20 euro into the county final seems abit excessive for the 4 in my house to go its a expensive day out. But nevertheless i will be there to support the lads.

Also a bit of a kick in the teeth again for the junior footballers not being let in the hyde why not push the game out by a week.

I think both clubs were happy to toss for home venue,

A job well done by Pearses the 2-8 0-11 score line didn't do justice to how much on top Pearses was.

The goals obviously key and even in the first half they showed they have the ability to create them while they left Clann to fight for scraps.

The experience of winning the county final in 2019 shone through for Pearses and Clann had more than a handful that never played in senior final before and it showed especially 2nd half.

Niall Daly was given MOTM but it could have been any number of Pearses players, I'd probably give it to Paul Carey scored 1-3 and set up the 2nd goal having him back on form have made a huge difference.

Difficult playing conditions but it was a good match well worth it's place on live national television.
We have good footballers in Roscommon. Our senior county team should be a lot better than it is. Padraig Pearses deserved their win. Best of luck to them representing Roscommon in the Connacht championship.

I think Pearses could go a long way if they want to in Connacht . The team is only getting better and I thought they managed the game very well today. It's very hard to run up a high score of points in the wet conditions against a well drilled clan outfit. I'm hoping Hubert darcy will become a focal point in our attack with county . He's bulked up and reminds me of Karol mannion. With him and Lennon you have strong talented forwards. Hopefully the mortaghs and cox can join them. That's a real forward line.

Eoin Mcormack from Dominic's should be brought into panel too. He was the standout player in intermediate this year.

Clann poor on the day, too many of their players seem like halfbacks... struggled to win breaks especially in the first half. Clann half forward had little to no impact and they could also do with a quick/accurate corner forward. In fairness young Ian harney really tried hard and looked creative... also he wasn't afraid to shoot unlike some. Pearses thoroughly deserved the win and I thought Hubert darcy looked like the best player on the field. Strong performance from pearses and they could do very well in the Connacht championship, hopefully they do. Paul Carey has ice in his veins and has county pedigree.

Thought Pearses were full value for their win, they played as a team and the goal at end demonstrated that. Agree with comment on Paul Carey, they are good enough to win a Connaught title,

Head is sore this morning but a great night in woodmount. Lads i thought were full value for their win yesterday thought paul carey was man of the match. 4 Dalys to the forefront yet again Niall carty got through savage unseen work the whole way through the game and was one of the main reason for their dominance in midfield. I really think Pearses can win a connacht title

Decent final off the back of a fairly enjoyable campaign here is my Senior club team of the year.

Ronan O'Reilly (Clann) has been the most consistent of the keepers on show and I'd just give him the nod ahead of the much improved Paul Whelan

Mark Richardson (Pearses) missed out last year due to injury and was a big loss, one of Pearses most consistent and dependable defenders

Anthony Butler (Pearses) probably the stand out full back in the championship, marked some of the best some the best county forwards and more than held his own.

Paul McGrath (Brigids) his club didn't reach the heights of last year but we was very impressive in every game including the semi final loss to Pearses.

Richard Hughes (Roscommon Gaels) his club reached the last 4 with such a depleted side and Richard was one of the stand out performers as he led by example, in the terms of distribution few are better in the county.

David Murray (Pearses) excellent championship for him in the argument for player of the year.

Paddy Gavin (Clann) debut season for the 19 year old and was one of his clubs stand out players on route to the final

Niall Daly (Pearses) key player in his teams county success another contender for player of the year.

Mark Healy (Roscommon Gaels) much like his teammate Hughes he led by example, it was probably the best championship Mark has had

Conor Payne (Pearses) one of the unsung heroes for the county champions, serious work rate and team player.

Ultan Harney (Clann) did all he could for his team, a warrior who wears his heart on his sleeve. Injuries are really taking its toll on him though.

Hubert Darcy (Pearses) really good and consistent championship from him and had a good final performance yesterday.

Ben O'Carroll (Brigids) hugely talented teenager, 1-22 mostly from play in just 4 championship matches

Ciaran Lennon (Clann) top scorer of the championship with 1-42 hopefully he can bring that form into 2022 for Roscommon.

Paul Carey (Pearses) his return from injury and form is one of the prime reasons why Pearses have regained the county title.

Others to impress Ciaran Lawless, Peter Domican, David O'Gara, Jack Connaughton, Diarmuid McGann, Michael Fallon, Tom Featherston to name but a few

Not a player from a Northern club in sight. Long gone are the days of Elphin or Castlerea dominating the club championship. Hopefully the clubs in the north of the county can take a look at the underage structures in the three excellent southern clubs of Clann, Brigid's and Pearses. The Roscommon County team would be the winner.

Apart from Boyle the Northern rural clubs haven't the numbers to have underage structures.
All are fielding amalgamated team with neighbours.
Hopefully the sight of Ballinameen lads on County teams is a sign of those amalgamations bearing fruit.
