Replying To galwayfball:  "If Galway aren't competitive then management need the door.

I however am optimistic we will put it up to them. It might be the excitement of a Galway v mayo match on the dry sod in castlebar though. Major mistakes in the league final . Our defence will be destroyed if its a repeat performance. But for some good saves the scoreboard would've been an embarrassment .Changes have to have happened."
Putting it up to Mayo is not an ambition
We beat them 3 years in a row 16-18
Anything other than a win is a failure
Fingers crossed

No reason we can't win tomorrow. Mayo are not a team of superstars and we should be going there expecting a big performance.

Saying that, winning won't mean our defensive issues are magically resolved.

I expect the wing forwards to be doing a lot of defensive work and a massive work rate throughout the team.

Funny selection. I would have thought Mcdaid and Paul Kelly were certain starters. Kelly to track Ruane. I suppose we won't know until throw in, what the actual team is.

I see two possible results tomorrow, a tight game won by Mayo by a point and the other a Mayo collapse like league final and last years all ireland final by Mayo and Galway winning by 8 to 10 points.

I can guarantee the second will never happen

Thought all year this would be our best chance in a long time to Bate Mayo, but the loss of our first choice keeper is very significant. Mayo are on the go at the top level for over 10 years, and it remains to be seen if they have managed to seamlessly replace the mighty players that were, Barrett, Higgins and Boyle. If they have they should win but that question will only be answered today. In the league Keegan and McLoughlin did seem to have lost some of their mojo. I know we have been working hard on kickouts since the league final, and hopefully that area will have improved. 50/50 Game.

Mayo have been in the last 2 All-Ireland finals without the 3 players you mentioned. That question has been answered already.
As before, they're strong breaking from the back and running from deep. Not much has changed there and they've brought in lads like Mullin, McLaughlin and O'Hora to replace those who've left.
Horan's focus has been on selecting athletic and powerful runners in a lot of positions, so new players can slip in quite seamlessly.
Our chances today depend on how we can pressure them out the pitch and give our defence a much better chance.
I'd expect a few changes to the named 15 unless the likes of Paul Kelly is injured. We need legs around the middle third. I do think we have a right shot at this. I'm hoping for a proper physical effort today and we can get the scores needed to win from there.

Was wrong had Mayo to win by 1 went the opposite way and congrats to Galway they deserved that win. A superb defensive performance key to that victory.

Brilliant, super stuff
Did not expect this
Key performances for me:
Liam Silke
Sean Kelly
Paul Conroy
Johnny Heaney
Shane
D Comer and Patrick Kelly

Conor Gleeson has a massive KO, I would be inclined to stick with the long ones

Great Stuff Galway

Congratulations to the Galway players and management team on a great victory in Castlebar. They showed skill, stamina, guts and determination and will gain good experience and confidence from the win. They need to learn especially how to close out games they are in control of and not to be giving the ball away and carelessly losing possession at critical times. Well done to all !

Great win with a performance that replicated how Kevin Walsh's Galway beat mayo 3 years running. Pack the defence and stop their runners, their forwards panic in front of goal when it matters.

Well to be fair to ya the kickout strategy was almost nonexistent. Honestly I'm surprised how many we won. Good performance by the fielders and the short ones worked out overall.

Defensive strategy was very good though. Aside from the obvious weak link, we covered really well. John Daly, Sean Kelly, Dylan McHugh all fantastic in helping out and doubling up in tackles.

Replying To Belclare:  "There is not one sign of any progress in the 3 years..
3 Connacht final defeats in a row looming , short kick outs will kill us, we must go long.. Daly not ready yet , I think Mc Daid may start ahead of him.
All in all Mayo should win this by 5 plus."
You must be disappointed with the result Belclare seeing that you now cannot say you told us so!
