Team I'd start if everyone fit
Flaherty
Molloy. Kelly. Silke
Mcdaid. Daly. Mchugh
Conroy N . Daly
Tierney. Walsh. Heaney
R. Finnerty. Comer. Dessie

Don't think they will start Walsh though , it's still 3 weeks to Mayo match so I think they definitely need go with best team available to them , I think
McLaughlin could see game time I know under 20 on next Wednesday, they need win on Sunday if Galway are not able beat Roscommon on Sunday then they have no hope in 3 weeks time even coming within 5/6 points of mayo who in my opinion are playing at a level way higher than Galway so a win on sun is vital , it's good 2 win a cup because neither Galway or Roscommon will be anywhere near Sam in July , ,

In fairness Comer is closer to that description than P. Conroy is!

9.N Daly
10.P Kelly

12. Heaney
13.Finnerty
14.Walsh
15.Conneely

Wouldn't risk Comer given his injury history, much more important to have him ready for Mayo. I think there's enough quality in the team named above to get over Roscommon and I believe there may be 1 or 2 changes to it for Mayo game. Gaillimh Abu."
Other than Comer that will be the Galway team that will likely start against Mayo on April 24th.

Not the way it works though is it and as Galway themselves have proved.

2016

Galway failed to gain promotion out of Div 2, well beaten at home by Cavan in last league game. In the championship beat Mayo in MacHale Park

2017

Gained promotion to Div 1 however on route lost to Meath, drew at home to Cork and round 7 game fell over the line against Kildare who played their 2nd team. In the championship beat Mayo in Pearse Stadium.

I see the team just announced. Shane Walsh not even on the bench. If he is being kept in reserve for the 24th fair enough. Hope he is not injured.

Replying To FatLadySinging:  "I think in fairness Gleeson has been hard done by. He is an excellent keeper and is in my view equally as good as Flaherty. His kick-outs have been criticised but no goalkeeper can be expected to find their men every time if the options are cut out by the opposition. We have at least 3 quality keepers in Flaherty, Gleeson and Power. It is reassuring that we have that back-up. Some of our great keepers of the past going all the way back to Jack Mangan and Johnny Geraghty would have their legendary status seriously questioned if they had responsibility during their tenure for finding their men from kick-outs. In fact back then "when men were men" it was generally one of the full-backs who took the kick-outs, eg. Enda Colleran. The objective back then was to drive the ball as far as possible and take your chances. It might be no harm to our chances at all if we went back to that strategy. Let every man win his own individual dual. That would soon sort out the men from the boys."
Gleeson, Power, Lavelle etc..... Have all proven they are nowhere near the level required.

Flaherty is most certainly there on merit.

With Shane, they've been talking about a 'back' injury. I hope it's not anything potentially worse than that (ie hamstring, knee, ankle). Then again, he could be sprung into the panel on Sunday, we'll find out soon enough. The key thing of course is to have him right for Mayo. On his day (which is now basically any time he's not carrying a knock or strain) he's as good as I've ever seen play the game. Thankfully, we're not dependent on him for scores anymore as a lot of our lads have stepped up and found their shooting boots - but add him into the mix and we've now got a serious attack. The goal execution is coming on massively too.
Delighted to see Sean Kelly named at midfield. I've been saying that's where he needs to be for 2 years now. Hope we actually play him there. He seems to be the archetypal modern midfielder - a massive engine, speed and carrying ability, box to box cover, can defend and attack, his aerial ability is good but can get better too. This lad seems to be able to rise to any task thrown at him.

It's good to see alright but full back is still a problem position. Molloy is great player but not a full back. Maybe if he's chasing donie smith around all day, it might work

im not sure lads if comer is going to start..
wouldnt be surprised to see walsh named on the bench..
you look at our subs bench and we dont have any real players to come on and get scores..
im a bit surprised that darragh silke and brian mannion got very little game time, two very good
score getters..
niall daly will play midfield so kelly will deffo play the sweeper role.

i can deffo see a few changes before throw in and a few changes to the bench..

cant see macloughlin, mcgrath or tomo playing with next Wednesday in mind..

i hope we see fitzgerald starting..

Half time now and but for Conroy we'd be in serious trouble. Massively disappointed with that performance so far. What has happened Matthew Tierney? Not even able to run today. If he's injured then he shouldn't be there, if he's not then someone needs to light a fire under him at half time. Plenty others that need it too.
Kick out strategy non existent again - zero excuses for the sideline on this - it is utterly pathetic on their part not to have sorted this. Tackling is abysmal. So many easy frees. A bit of intelligence lads. At the rate we're going today, Mayo will hammer us out the gate in a few weeks. Something amazing needs to happen at half time if we're to see a performance. Minus Shane Walsh, it's sad that we've very little to threaten with in Croke Park.

Roscommon dominant so far in 2nd half. They're up by 3 but could be up by 6 or 7. Galway have no spark at all. A couple of wides. Roscommon can get up to the goal mouth no bother at all. Pathetic.

Poor display giving 3 weeks out from Mayo. Not as good as we think we are, simple as that.

Attacking football isn't all that pretty when you are the one on the end of the attack

Well done Roscommon

Very poor today. Roscommon beat us last week and for some reason some the lads thought they'd to just show up bar a few

Mayo fans won't be too concerned about us. Put the loss behind us and get the heads ready for championship because we are way off. The will run through us if we play like that. Roscommon are the best team we've played this year and they've beaten us twice.

Positive for me was Conroy

The defending for the Roscommon goal! Good lord. Was like Ruane's last year where it just opened up in front him with defenders leaving it to the next fella to put a tackle in.

Pity as it ruined a good comeback. Galway had a terrible 15 minutes after half time. Recovered well and then blew it with the goal.

Congratulations Roscommon. Fully deserved win. Ye could have had more goals. I'm glad Galway made a fight out of it but just not good enough.
