If it's true Walsh's hamstring was that bad, it's really unforgivable that he was left taking frees. But I never saw him flinch after any kicks, hamstrings when torn cause an uncontrollable reflex reaction when they're strained, your leg just straightens immediately without you even realising. I saw it happen in the Dublin match, not the final though. But when I saw the highlights from last weekend of Conroy popping over long range frees at his ease.....what a missed opportunity the final was. Conroy does deserve player of the year. Got man of the match how many times? Would've got it in the final had Galway won. Was Galway best player. I actually think Gleeson deserves an All Star. His kickouts in ten matches were very very good, obviously like all goalies there were some that went astray, including Cluxton. He made positive contributions up the pitch, like those kickouts he broke in the Connacht final and in injury time of the final. Obviously scored. And his handling was exceptional especially in the semi final. He should've been more aware of McKay coming in to his square in the final for Armagh's goal. It was a missed opportunity but they the team gave us some great momemts last year. They were class in most games.. Walsh was tripple marked but seemed to the only one taking on shots towards the end. He could have been used as a foil if Comer was match ready. It looks like we underestimated Oisin Conaty early on but would Daily have held him? I think the management have improved the squad depth. Not that sure that squad depth is as good as people think a bench loaded with defenders and when a corner forward got injured bring on a wing forward and Tierney a midfielder Ended up corners forward and o flaherty a wing back and a good one comes on wing forward instead of replacing Mulkerrins so not sure Joyce is the man to get Galway over the line and bring on Sean Kelly clearly injured unless management start playing back in backs they will never collect the big prize Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1103 - 27/08/2024 16:38:12 2567178 Link

Walsh wasn't triple marked, when he was kicking frees or marks wide or short, or when he chose to take one or two of them short. Galway have great depth. Problems arise when multiples in the same position are injured. Very noticeable Walsh lacked distance, which is unusual for him. That implies he was very restricted however no way was it a grade 3. He wouldn't have been near the pitch with a grade 3. Tierney was always a great option off the ground but hasn't even attempted one since the Tyrone league game when he stubbed the ground and seemed to injury the quad. Finnerty struggled all year and it was amazing he played so well in so many games carrying the leg. Has he played for Salthill yet? Hopefully getting himself 100% Comer seemed to be ok hamstring wise (from club game) but looked to lack gas in AI series probably from the lack of training because he was minding it. Very worried about Sean Kelly. He took a long break last year but never looked right this year when he came back. Will be interesting to see who puts up their hand in the club championship this year. Would love to see a scoring forward emerge. Matthew Thompson maybe? and I definitely think Cillian O'Curroin can kick on. Sam O'Neill seems to be a serious prospect but its an area we are very well stocked in. When Shane comes back, I would prefer to see him in a more roving role, picking the ball up further out and carrying it more centrally.
