He didn't lay a hand on the man or the ball inside the small square.for the Armagh goal. I know what Pat Comer or Martin Mc would have done. The goal might have gone in but there would have been serious consequences.

With all due respect to both of those men, they wouldn't have been getting first to the ball or the man in that scenario.

Medical professionals around the world must be perplexed, hes the only man alive capable of playing outfield in an inter county match with a grade 3 hamstring tear. Especially given that it is usually a minimum 6 week recovery time! Unless the grade 3 tear is the injury he suffered earlier in the year, which makes it irrelevant for the all ireland final!

I presume he did it against Dublin. Either way he wasn't fit and I'm reliably informed that's the injury he had

We can only speculate what might have happened if he had gone for the ball. I lean towards the ball would have gone in anyway but he could have gone for it and who knows what might have happened. Niall Morgan didn't pass up the chance to go for Clifford in '21 SF and that worked out well for Tyrone! Cbar (Mayo) - Posts: 332 - 21/08/2024 09:35:50 2566097 Link 1 |
Leitir Mor seemed to be flying the flag for Connemara and had a good wuin v Caherlistrance. MB well beaten by Caltra & Spideal beaten by Gabriels in intermediate does not look good for football in the west with Carraroe down in junior. Hard see past Corofin would have salthill & Moycullen behind them but Claregalway seem to be going well. In terms of relegation I see Killanin Caherlistrane Oughterad & Monivea finishing bottom of their respective groups & being involved in the relegation scrap. I attended both Pearse Stadium and Kenny Park football games last weekend and one take away I have from the two venues is there are some question marks regarding the umpiring as to the validity of some scores in Kenny Park from the perspective of quite a number of spectators. It was very noticeable the the umpires were very restricted in being able to get behind the flight of the ball at the rear of the goals due to the lack of room as the perimeter wall and ball retention net is right on top of the goal netting. It's a pity that some extra space wasn't made behind the goals when all the fine work that was done on the playing surface recently as this makes the umpires job very difficult especially in hurling I would imagine, but also in football as seemed last Sunday. Players deserve the result of their efforts should have a fair adjudication. backtooldwall (Galway) - Posts: 119 - 21/08/2024 12:07:42 2566141 Link 0 |

What part of the baile in Moycullen is he from? Same as Gallagher or Clarke or O Reilly? Oh wait mus be the same road as mcHugh :) Is Sean Kelly out for year? Rumours of surgery? Cooke likely be home for latter end and obviously a huge addition for any county team never mind a club team. Eire89 (Galway) - Posts: 285 - 21/08/2024 15:17:58 2566187 Link 0 |
Don't know who pick these teams but was at 2 senior and 2 intermediate games over the weekend and some of the players picked on this team, you would wonder if you were watching the same match. Some obvious good performances from Damo/Matthew Thompson/Eoin Mannion and Won't name those on either list from the games i was at that are surprising but there are times you would be scratching your head.

What does that say to all the lads on the bench? We have a lad with a grade 3, he will miss 5 score able chances...he will remain on frees and on the pitch no matter how bad he plays. You are basically never going to play.

Maurice Brosnan might be biased but has made a strong case for Paul Conroy to win footballer of the year. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 207 - 22/08/2024 17:20:36 2566324 Link 0 |
