Replying To galway19:  "Moycullen managed to turn it around against Dunmore to win by a point but their first was so bad, they were lucky to score at all in the first half. Can't see them winning a championship unless they get more players back. They still lack shooters when the running game isn't working."
I hate to say it - but if they can win that match, they will win ANYTHING.

Name a better second half in any match ever? They managed to score more goals with Gleeson in goals than all the best county teams put together in the entire championship… and that was them on a bad day. With no Sean kelly.

On the club results, it's hard to see beyond Corofin. Salthill could really challenge them but we'll see"
Corofin really seem to have the momentum at the moment with no big injuries but its early yet, doubt we will see finnerty tog for salthill this year

Moycullen very lucky but also deserve credit always seem to find a way late goal against salthill springs to mind. Gleason did not cover himself in glory. McHugh on the line must be from same area of Moycullen as Gallagher, Clarke & O Reilly. Salthill did enough in what was a poor game and I see them as contenders. Comer in flying form for Annaghdown. Kelly did not play anything for Moycullen which suggests 3 weeks after AI not fit which you would have to question PJ using him. Any potential county players out there hand up? Any free takers?

That would explain the poor free taking for sure. But if he did have this then he shouldn't have been taking frees at all.

Kelly wasn't togged for Moycullen yesterday. Did he go to America like last year or is he injured?

Ya connor scored a free from about 70 out, makes you wonder about all ireland final and the mess the sideline made out of game management

Thought Matthew Thompson and Colm Costello two main men for u20 were standouts well able to kick points.

Sam ONeill also played well 3 lads I would hope to see game time next yr although I think Costello has another yr at u20.

How was Flaherty in goal for claregalway?

Thompson looking hopeful for future..
Nothing really standing out yet...
Claregalway had a good win against a fairly woeful Tuam...
Dunmore played well but the goals will be a concern...

Hurling recruit Dara Newell who made his championship debut for Mountbellew had a very good game being marked by Cathal Sweeney, he is one to watch.

You must get great comfort from your fascination with all things Moycullen! its beautiful to see such simple things adding so much to your happiness and wellbeing.Claregalway did well to hang on for win in the opening game yesterday in Kenny Park and no one could have foreseen the turn around in the second half for a fortunate but hard fought Moycullen winning the later game, Corofin must also have been relieved that Oughterard did not take the clear cut goal chances presented to them ,one in each half which could have been an interesting finish if taken.

Gleeson beaten again to another high ball into the square for Moycullen's winning goal in injury time. For such a big fella he's beaten in the air quite a bit. Doesn't seem to have the spring at all.

He did score a free off the ground from about 60 meters out to be fair to him at one point.

Just intrigued to know is he from the same baile in Moycullen as Gallagher Clarke & O Reilly. Thought McHugh resigned from role as selector with Davy Burke & Roscommon due to commute & travel distance. not sure how far it is from Kilcar to Moycullen but sure I suppose if Davy Fitz gane to it to Antrim no doubt MCHugh can do it for Moycullen. Interesting to know what kind of "expenses" he would get. You might answer is Cooke available this year most likely later in champo I know flight can be dear and McHugh adding to your expenses :) Anyway in terms of football was anyone at Barna game did Fitzgerald pick up Comer?

Yes good win for them without Kelly but they won't claw back better teams like Corofin or Salthill playing like that in a first half. I'd still be concerned about their shooting when the running game isn't working. Outside of Dessie there isn't a great shooter in the forward line. Gallagher took a couple of woeful shots on Sunday.

As much and all as it kills me to go against my own club, I cant see past Corofin!
I wasn't at their game but I have heard about the depth in the panel. Looks like they have the firing power back in Leonard and Canney also this year.
The county lads were slowly introduced throughout the game with Egan making the biggest impression from what I'm hearing.

Salthill or Moycullen may give them a test but Corofin will have the bench to see them off in my opinion.

A soft goal. Happens too often. And watching Armagh's soft goal in the All Ireland final again, he absolutely should have stepped across and cut that out with relative ease.

His effort with a high ball in first half was even worse got lucky with it.

McLaughlin was quite too for most part hoping he will step up this yr

James McLaughlin actually punched that ball over the bar when he could have caught it.Funny thing to do.

I was at the Matches on Saturday in Tuam and Sunday in Pearse stadium. Killannin had a very young team out and were well defeated in the end by much smarter Milltown. Thought Sweeneys did well until Cathal was taken out by the Milltown man. Michael Martin is still a great kicker of the ball and the Costellos what the lack in football they make up in speed and caused Killannin's your back line a lot of problems. Jack Kirrane did well Centre back and for Killannin Daragh Walshe did well on frees.
Bearna did extremely well without Hernon and that Maroon and white Podcast (which I hate and wont listen again to) rated them as 16th which is so unfair. They had a planned and stuck by it. Annaghdowns experience probably won out. Comer did super. Annaghdown lads always look for him. Kilcommons also looked very good and his pace was unstoppable at times. Should have scored at least 1-2. Frankie Burke is still playing for Annaghdown. He must be 40 by now. A lot of new faces on both teams but an Annaghdown win was probably deserved. There was one score for Barna that was about 2 yards wide that was given.
MM and Salthill match was awful. I know that it takes a number of the players who are training with the county not getting games to get back in to the playing full matches but I expected a lot more from salthill and they were my favourites to win the county title. Maybe it is slow starters but I see no Frank Fox going into the seaside. That said Thompson was good. I wonder it is better to bring him to county now where he wont get matches of leave him in the club for one more year. MM are down a lot of players.
James and Monivea was exciting because of the comeback, Conroy is still great. People were raving about O Neill but he would not touch the ball against the big boys. Glenn Kelly is a good club player but does not have pace for senior. Also I was impressed with McDaid. I am sure the Claregalway folks are sorry he did not transfer into them.
Sorry I did not go to my local club CG but they had a great win over Tuam. I am afraid to admit it but the football side of our parish wont be far away this year I hear.
On a final note 15 Euros (12 on line) is very steep and I thought that 5 euro is enough. It would get bigger crowds.
Last Final Note: It is Corofins to loose.
