Replying To galway19:  "Caherlistrane, Oughterard, Monivea. 15 scores across 60+ minutes between Dunmore and James' is gouge your eyes out sort of stuff.

Hopefully we get Corofin/Salthill/Moycullen in the final which at least would set up to be a game of football. People are voting with their feet and deciding not to attend a lot of games."
Unfortunately a lot of club managers/coaches are imitating inter-county - getting players behind the ball and counter attacking. Only problem is players are not as fit/athletic and are unable to implement plan at pace and are often frigged by the time scoring chance arrives. This leads to slow, boring low scoring games. A sad state of affairs. Club football had been keeping the sport alive, but now is just as bad.

I was at the Claregalway versus Corofin match on Saturday.....Ooops spoke too soon about CG. We were boys against men. Honestly we need 3-4 years of conditioning. Some nice footballers but honestly we were blown away by a team that did not even get into second gear. I know Corofin are a serious team but we have been in 7-8 of the last minor finals so where are these lads gone. Looks like it will be back to Moycullen, Salthill and Corofin. Ollie Turner was raving about the Millltown v Annaghdown match, was anyone at it?

A lot of Corofin players Darragh Silke, Conor Cunningham and a few more are in better shape than guys playing inter county at Div 3/4 level.
Couple of people have mentioned the quality in general, doesn't seem to have really kicked off yet to be fair. I couldn't believe seeing that Sean Kelly was played. Crazy stuff, particularly given that they won the first game

Replying To Belclare7:  "Salthill and Corofin look ahead of the rest at the moment..
Good win for Tuam mc Glinchey got some goal...
Oughterard looked leaderless, Murphy playing in goal??
James nearly through it away again..
Intermediate is wide open..
Caught a bit of Caltra beating a weak Cortoon team.."
Salthill look to have a good bit of firepower up front, should be good enough to reach the final, (barring meeting Corofin earlier), but may need a fit Finnerty to win it. These 2 look clearly ahead of the rest, with perhaps Moycullen best of the rest; Mountbellew appear static, as do Claregalway and Tuam.

A draw v. Dunmore in the final match would save Monivea, but more likely it will be the loser of them v. Caherlistrane to be relegated; Oughterard and Bearna would still seem to be slightly better.

Intermediate appears to be quite competitive in fairness. Have Caltra turned the corner? Bit of a surprise to see Kilkerrin overcome Breathnachs. Fancy Spiddal though, based on their scoring ability.

CG are not that far off Corofin and Corofin were lucky to get away with foul before their first goal which changed the whole game. Those lads are still only 18-21 so give them a break.

Claregalway seem to "be up and coming" for the last 10 years no doubt a good senior team with age on their side but not contenders as yesterday showed. Corofin Salthill & Moycullen a good bit ahead of everyone else. Barna Oughterard Chaerlistrane & Dumore/monivea in relegation think it will be caherlistrane who make the drop. Intermediate is wide open and any of the teams would fancy their chances. Surely Michaels & Spiddal will have a say I know lost 1st game but oranmore clifden & caltra seem to be flying it. Surprised at MB but a win against Cortoon buts them in mix again. I do think 3 of 4 gettuing through is a bit of a joke. Williamstown or Menlough for relegation. Any standout performers that PJ should be looking at?

Senior championship going along as very much predicted with the usual suspects for silverware and relegation.

Intermediate championship somewhat different with Clifden, Oranmore and Gabriel's surprisingly coming to the fore even though it's early stages. Would be great to see them emerge.

Michael's and Spiddal seem to be slowly getting there act together while the other favourite MB are in danger of the relegation dogfight. It could get interesting. But without a shadow of a doubt the standard in Intermediate continues to decline.

probably only free they got away with . was told yesterday that the free count was something like 17 /6 against corofin and that for last 2 games 39/13 and only a few of those frees were scoreable . Are refs sub consciously penalising corofin or are Corofin that bit dirtier than other teams??

Stop Corofin get away with alot as other strong teams do and fair play to them.Cant blame them. The point is this happened under the refs nose and it changed the game.It is what it is.

I rate Maigh Cuillin, Corofin and Annaghdown higher that Salthill. I can't see what the hype is about. Always the same.

It's not for want of exposure anyway. Between apps, and whatsapps, and GBFM, and TG4, and the Tuam Herald, and the Thribune, and podcasts, and the improved competition structures, and the set scheduling of games etc, I'd say there was rarely more awareness countywide of where all club teams are standing in the pecking order, among folk that want to be aware of such things.

The downside from a county board perspective might be that fans don't have to attend games anymore to stay abreast of developments, and mightn't attend a game until they think there's some serious fat in the fire, later on.

I thought he was very hard on corofin on Saturday but i would say corofin are cute out also, and also on Sunday ref seemed to give everything to St James's and Paul Conroy, and don't talk to me about umpires 3 calls over the weekend that they missed up

How is James McDermott getting on for Salthill? Seen he was named at 3 for a game recently and wouldn't have ever seen him playing there in his days playing in Roscommon

Maybe, but that should be no excuse for fans not attending their own club games. To anyone with club loyalty it should be part of their identity to follow their club in as many (competitive) matches as possible, not just the ones that really count.

I've been to two of the games and a good enough turn out. Has anyone the correct figures of exact breakdowns?

Watched Dunmore v St James on the stream. Horrendous football - Dunmore 1 goal after 4 minutes and did not score again for the rest of the half. I actually felt a bit sick paying €12 to watch it. At one stage in the second half Costello caught a mark about 5-10 meters inside the 45 and Ollie said this is an impossible kick, he put it over and it nearly cleared the net behind the goal.

Whatever about the other two - there's no way Annaghdown are better than Salthill.
Comer will keep them competitive but that's about it.

Nobody anywhere would fancy Annaghdown to beat Salthill.
