Replying To Sportsfanatic90:  "It's funny how things work out, a lad goes around jeering and lauding when scores against lesser teams and then gets injured inside 10 minutes.
Bottled it, at least mayo would turn up for the big days, 2/3 of that Galway team never got off the bus.
Mòl an oige agus tiocfaidh siad.
Comer impact sub a lá soupy at best I'm afraid when it gets to knockout, he can do it against lesser teams but not against set up astute teams."
Galway people don't need me to defend them - but if you want to get a wind up, come up with something with more credible than "Mayo would turn up for the big days".

A bit uncalled for.

Replying To LottoPlus:  "Honestly what are you on about. Sean Kelly not playing for Greater good for who. Galway and Moycullen. The county senior footballers have to serve 2 masters and just because Galway need him to best can Moycullen do without him. McLaughlin has all the skills but can be very lazy on the field. Thompson and Costello are good but they are 2-3 years away from intercounty Senior. They need development in s&C etc. And I like Sam O Neill but he is not even related to an intercounty footballer and McGlinchey is only 18 (a very good prospect). He is capable of some brilliant individual scores but drifts out of a match but he is only a child. Remember he only made the 20's due to the injuries of the other midfielders."
What am I talking about?? How about that Kelly has been playing clearly injured for a year now for both Galway and Moycullen. he needs time to rest and recover for the greater good for him his club and county he's no good for anyone playing in his current condition.

Or we can have another Michael Donnellan scenario finished in his late 20s

He commented on Mayo turning up on the big days though.
Either way he's trying to wind things up and kicking Galway while there down.
A post like that is not on.

Be sure not to give Armagh any credit now and of course Joyces man-managemt was the reason Armagh defended well and Galway kicked some wides."
God you are a dose

Replying To Tribes88:  "Disaster of a day yesterday, tough on the players after great performances in quarter and semi and then to malfunction in the final. While the style this year as been more cautious and hold the ball, I thin they went even further down the cautious route, conceding kickouts and not taking shots when on.
Sideline were poor also, putting Tierney in the corner when Heaney came on was poor decision, you could see it wasn't working but they left it, Comer not in the game at all and didn't move him and took him off too late. Why was Walsh left on frees? Kelly not fit enough but they must have thought him coming on would give everyone a lift but he wasn't able to offer much.
The players started to panic with alot of time left, they needed more leadership in the forwards, McDaid was trying but wasn't fully happening for him either. McHugh hasn't done much wrong all year, he got his chance after holding the ball for few mins and he was in alot space and decided to kick using outside of the boot when he should have kicked with inside of the boot, might not seem big deal but should have been a score. Silke would have shot and scored in previous two games but yesterday at the end he decideds to go back to Walsh who kicks an awful wide.

Walsh and Comer, they are the best two forwards there but I think they lack cuteness and football brain, if they are given space then the two will cause huge damage but if the space is cut off they seem to easy to be crowded out.

Fairplay to Armagh, they are probably the best drilled team in the country and they took there chances, they were solid in defence and mixed up there attacking play."
The margins are fine but I think your last sentence summed up the difference. Galway have become very good at patient methodical build up but looking at the final and semi they didn't mix up their attacking play enough. Ye turned both Donegal and Armagh over on a number of occassions but very slow then to counter. I know there is probably an element of not wanting to lose the ball when on the counter and then your own team is stretched but there needs at least to be a mix you'd imagine. Comer seems to be a player who thrives on quick direct ball and I'm not sure he got an awful lot of that. Then again on another day Shane Walsh hits the target with most of those efforts and Galway are AI winners. There was nothing in it really.

Hard luck yesterday. One ye should have won. Thought ye were always comfortable till the goal and ye really never recovered yer composure after that.

Pressure makes players and managers do things they wouldnt usually.. The line seems to get a bit frazzled after the Finnerty injury.. A like for like change with Culhane would have been more sensible option and not disrupt team shape or weaken bench impact as much.. but hindsight is 20/20

Sean Kelly was not fit.. it was a gamble by PJ that he got no return off

Was surprised not even a single ball was let in towards Comer.. holding possession seems to be the most import thing these days..

Walsh missing those chances was huge.. not just on the scoreboard but you could see each miss drain the energy out of everyone in maroon and white, particularly the ones going down the stretch.. But people should go easy on the lad.. He will still be key to Galway's aspirations next year

Any final you get to without facing Dublin or Kerry is a huge opportunity.. Yesterday will be a hard one to get over for Galway but they will..

I would be shocked if Joyce doesnt stay on but it will be more difficult next year.. Dublin and Kerry will be back and about 6 other teams at least will fancy their chances after seeing Armagh getting over the line

Replying To Really:  "Well said. Tbh, I'm devastated for the players and management, especially after the loss in 2022. I also felt losing Cian Hernon through injury was unlucky, as he is great for breaking lines and brings a different dynamic from the bench.

Hopefully, there won't be a knee-jerk reaction to the loss. I sincerely hope Pj stays on as manager, (as he undoubtedly has a winner's mentality) with perhaps a few changes to personnel. I don't know if CON is set to leave.

So, let's be gracious to Armagh and congratulate them on their AI success. Players like Ruairi Grougan, Rian O'Neill and Stephan Campbell are fabulous players and role models - more power to them.

Would be great to see a huge welcome home for the boys. It's now they need our support."
You were calling them gutless less than 24 hours earlier. Spare us your sanctimonious posts cause you're neither funny or interesting.

Not sure about comfortable as it was 0-10 to 0-9 before the goal and any goal in low scoring game was going to be a huge score. Galway surprisingly defended poorly in that moment.

Who? Me?

The comment was that Mayo always turn up on the big days but Galway didn't and I think its uncalled for. How would that show Mayo colours?

Anyway I just dont like to see people trying to wind other people up and rubbing there noses in losses on forums like this.

Replying To galwayfball:  "Campbell on 2 mins with space. A free man flying through the middle of the defence. Not many goalies would've stopped that goal.

Gleeson has had a pretty good year."
Mcgrath let campbell past way to easy, fresh legs caught him out for pace. McHugh ball watching for a split second let the Armagh man in behind him for the tap in. In fairness to Walsh he tried to cover mchugh but was to late reacting. I would of liked to see gleeson clear man and ball out but it was the failure to stop the runner through the middle that cost them.

Gleeson had a good year. That said, he didn't leave a glove on the ball or the man a meter from his own goal line.
