All things considered both ourselves and Ros achieved the our immediate goal of promotion and both have a similar challenge in the championship...break into the top group of teams in terms of being at the business end of things.

Replying To endgame:  "Roscommon unbeaten. 2 draws. Finished on same points total as Galway who they beat today. Roscommon win the division on head to head."
We finished top of Division 1 in 2018, but we definitely didn't win the division. The Dubs took that honour by beating us in the final.
Congrats on promotion. Both teams will be happy to have another competitive game next weekend.
A very good weekend for Connacht football.

Great to see Bernard, Liam, Dylan, Kieran , Dylan Tony and Daragh in there. 7 is probably enough for now, but if ye want a few more you know where All Ireland winners are!"
In fairness they had a good win v Kilannin. Look to be building nicely.

To keep the oscar theme going, "the oscar for worst defending in one half of gaelic football goes to......Galway in a dead rubber game against Roscommon". I would have done a Will Smith on the manager or the "defence" coach at half-time lol!

Anyone at the game care to comment on Niall Daly's performance?

From a Roscommon point of view he looked decent. Felt we won the midfield battle but he scored well if he was playing midfield. Scored some lovely point and seems an excellent shooter.

Bernie no longer in there afaik .dropped to no 4 in pecking order and trained with Corofin last week. Imagine Darragh has dropped down the pecking order as didn't make the 26 yesterday. Not sure if he played for C'fin yesterday but played against Milltown last week.

Did very well in shooting but a little flat footed in defending (he's a big man )and Roscommon attached his wing quite a bit in the second half consistently breaking the line (and also breaking through the half back line on same side i might add). He's raw but potential. The video analysists will have some fun this week and i feel Galway will have learnt alot from the mixed performance.

Kicked some great points anyway going by the highlights. A midfielder kicking 0-5 from play doesn't happen often.

Not sure what the rest of his game was like in terms of ball winning, work rate, tackling, etc.

With no Cooke available this year there is maybe a slot up for grabs in midfield. Depending on what they do with Paul Kelly.

Didn't see game on Sunday but listened to it. Very hard to gauge but did seem like we improved a bit in second half.

Was that the case and was it the subs that made the difference?

Or was it just consolation scores.

How did Mclaughlin play?

We certainly learned (if we needed to) that we can only play at full intensity. At full intensity we are capable of beating most on our day. We are not good enough to 'cruise'

Any news on Comer & S Walsh injuries?

Was Conroy suspended?

was at the game yesterday.,
thought we looked heavy legged and tired.
did anybody see the warm up., it was intense stuff.
we had a tough week training wise and you could tell from the get go..
you could tell that alot of the lads yesterday hadnt too much football played and alot of
the players i felt played out of position but im glad he gave everybody a run they will learn from
it and get better..we also need to be better around the breaking ball area but thats something we
can deffo improve at and quickly.

for me tony gill should of started at 6 and dylan cannay at 11..
i felt sorry for dylan yesterday he is a much better footballer then what he showed us yesterday.
i thought fitzgerald was very rusty but did very well as the game went on.,for me id start him
at full back next sunday..
thought tierney looked tired yesterday but still kicked two points and worked very hard.

niall daly did very very well..kicked 5 great scores and looks a very good shooter.
he did well at midfield for his first league start and if he puts the work in especially on his fitness/conditioning
as he tired after 50 mins yesterday he is deffo one for the future.,big string physical man,,overall
a fine display..
great to see macloughlin coming on and did well also..he'll be some player for galway in the years to
come..

i think finnerty and o laoi picked up knocks yesterday so hope they will be ok..

does anybody think we are a little short of options in the full forward area if comer isnt fit as in
scoring forwards.,i thought we'd see more of brain mannion.,rory cunningham and deffo darragh
silke by now!!!
where is liam costello's best position?

overall ros where full value for there win and kicked some great scores.
i knew coming down we wouldnt win the game but i was fearful of injuries so i hope we are ok
in that department..

im expecting a different galway in dublin on sunday but i dont think joyce will pick his best 15
as im hearing comer wont be playing and id give young tierney a break to.,hes played a serious amount
of football since jan.,
so here is my team for sunday.,
1.flaherty
2.molloy
3.fitzgerald
4.silke
5.mchugh
6.j.Daly
7mcdaid
8.conroy
9.N Daly ( think he deserves it after yesterday and great experience for him )
10.S.Kelly
11.S. Walsh ( if fit ) if not ( D Canny ) best position
12.Heaney ( some goal yesterday )
13.Culhane
14.rob Finnerty
15.connelly

suns, gleeson.,p.kelly., gill.,glynn.,mcgrath.,macloughlin.,Tierney.,Gallagher.,O laoi.,D silke.,sweeney.

i no this team wont start but this is the team id go with if the lads are injured and giving one or to
options off the bench..

does anybody no how patrick kelly from mountbellew is.? is his injury nearly cleared up.!
could be another option around midfield and has loads of football in him!

just another thing did anybody hear kevin mcstay's comment last night..
he said he didnt no if galway would go for the league final and he also made the comment if
we lose to mayo there will be retirements!! Does anybody no whats he's on about because i dont.!!

im looking forward heading to dublin next sunday and i hope there will be a big galway crowd.,
its a great day out and this team deserves support.
you can be sure mayo will travel in massive numbers.im not sure about kerry but i think
roscommon will have a good number of supporters up there also so should be a good athmosphere
and hopefully a fine sunny day.

3 connacht teams in division 1 next year.,not bad going at all..

Hard to know what to take out of the second half apart from making the final score line look a bit more respectable.

With both teams knowing the contest was over by half time it was played at challenge pace 2nd half and even the mostly Rossie crowd seemed a little bored by the action and lack of intensity on view.

McLoughlin just had a few low risk passes. Walsh wasn't fit to make the bench yesterday if he and Comer are past fit this weekend both will obviously start.

Yesterday was the pressure game for Roscommon, their need was greater. On Sunday Galways need is greater and can't afford going into the Mayo game on April 24th off the back of two defeats.

Am I missing something here, why is everyone going on about all the games weeks in a row and even McStay said Galway mightn't go for it as they will have to focus on the Mayo game as it's so soon after. The Mayo game is 3 weeks after the league final. We should be picking our strongest team and going flat out to win it.

McShhtay generally sees 'problems' in and around the Galway football team as a rule. I certainly wouldn't be looking to him for any positive vibes about the Galway football team.

Their need was greater is an understatement to say the least. Our need was zero, with promotion & a league final secured. In complete contrast, we'll be well 'up for the cup' next Sunday, I'd imagine.

Team I'd start next day
Flaherty
Molloy. S Kelly. Silke
Mchugh. Daly. Mcdaid
Conroy , N . Daly
Tierney. Walsh. Heaney
R Finnerty comer. Dessie

Though Jack Glynn did quiet well yesterday
McLaughlin when he came on caused them prob running at them , I think with kick outs they need go long they giving away 2 many scores from short ones and. Putting way 2 much pressure on there own defence, Push N , Daly to half forward area and tierney fir kick outs and put ball down on them and put Ross undfr serious pressure,

I wouldn't see how Galways need is greater, the chance for a national title has all Roscommon people excited and they can go hell for leather at it knowing they have 5 weeks plus to prepare for a Connacht final. Galway have to be worried about games 6 weeks on the spin prior to Mayo, in addition to the injuries to Comer & Walsh. There's also the revenge angle at play, given how comprehensively Galway ended Roscommons championship campaign last season. Anthony Cunningham is renowned for using the revenge angle, so we can expect to see Roscommon geed up to the hilt on Sunday

He'll say the same about us, but sure Kerry will be going flat out because they won't get a 'serious test' for weeks because no-one will put it up to them in Munster. And ourselves and yerselves and Roscommon won't want to 'show their hand' before the Connacht Championship. Take care would their opponents be purely relying on information learned about their opponents and not be able to play the game in front of them on the day. Sure if you've new plans and tactics ti trial might as well do it in a big game. Kevin McStay and most of the Sunday Game football pundits spend too much time trotting out a load of bland lazy GAA cliches to fill in time. I hope all the teams in the 4 finals can show their best hand and Damien Comer starts for Galway.
