Replying To WanPintWin:  "A runner, a scorer of crucial goals and points. One of our best players in the league. I agree the full-back suggestion is odd. I can't see any logic for that.
He's also far too important to the team in his current role."
No, just a runner.

Galway beat them well in The Hyde two years ago in very bad conditions

Very harsh. Well able to kick points also. And if he is just a runner he's a pretty good one. Always seems to time his runs to get on the end of goal scoring opportunities (more than most I would say). I would also say he is a great decision maker in the heat of battle and IMO that is what marked the Dubs out from all the rest over the last number of years.

Moving on to the Rossies. The hunger for the tackle they showed on Sunday was immense. Hunting in packs and breaking at speed. Mayo played into their hands a bit but even so.

We will need to break hard and fast against them but if we get slowed down we will have to be very very patient. The Galway crowd will need to support the team during these periods because the last thing we need is Galway players panicking a kicking it in because the crowd is on their backs.

We also need to be clinical. If Stephen Coens effort crept in, I think it would have been a very different game on Sunday.

Any word on Mcdaid?

I've given up asking about the other long term absentees as at this stage they are probably out of Ros game at the very least.

Have Galway lost in 'the Hyde' in championship since the 1990 Connacht Final? I can't think of any in 'fortress Roscommon!!' in that spell, while Ros have had a few 'recent' championship wins in Tuam & Salthill. 33 years since Ros won at home v Galway, the Law of Averages won't be on our side on Sunday week.

I cant whip up the hate for Roscommon which comes easy when you see Mayo coming so I will just look for a strong Galway performance which will be too much for Roscommon to handle but if we are not at full throttle we will lose as Roscommon are a good and dogged team. There is some arrogance and delusion in Mayo summed up by "Sam is coming home" flags for a county with 2 wins in history of GAA with the last one just after World War 2.

Roscommon are a Tailteann Cup outfit and Mayo were an embarrassment against them. Looking forward to thumping them in the Hyde - which is a dump - as per usual.

The jury is out on Roscommon as to whether they are the real deal or not i.e. can they complete with the likes of Kerry or Dublin in the heat of championship.
But even if they aren't at that level they are a very solid top 10 and I think its very unfair AND incorrect to refer to them as a Tailteann cup team.
I would be extremely careful about making any Hyde Park prediction.

Sam coming home signs? Have you evidence of those? First I've heard.

Aidan O'Shea has one in his garden. He lost his phone in the sea that time so could not send on a photo of it, but it's there alright.

This is just nonsense. They've a good record against Galway with a lot of the same crop since 2016/7.

Any idea when tickets are on sale for Galway Roscommon?

Galway's 3 losses to Roscommon since the 1990 Connacht final were the 2001 semifinal in Tuam and the 2 recent Connacht final defeats in Pearse stadium. It's an improbable run of results against competitive Ros teams and a record that will be tested Sunday week

If you don't have season tickets you can forget about a seat in the stand or on the sieline. Get in early to the terrace goals on the hospital side, your kids will get the best view from there watching Tierney, Walsh, Comer and Conroy sticking them over and under the bar.

Yes, 1990 was Galway's last championship defeat in the Hyde. Galway have a very good record there in fairness. Strangely enough, Galway also have a good record in Castlebar. When they've lost in Connacht in recent times it's usually been in Salthill.

Davy Burke will be hoping Galway come with that attitude. Could be a very interesting afternoon in Hyde Park

Easy to spot the WUMs they aren't even making an effort anymore. crankyincorofin may as well have called himself wumincorofin.

We both have dodgy Galway goalkeepers.! Should make for plenty of excitement. Will ye have Cillian McDaid back for The Hyde clash. Galway are better than Mayo despite the League Final so Roscommon will need to improve on last Sunday to get to the Connacht Final.

Not a fair comment to call your young keeper dodgy. Gleeson dodgy is a bit overplayed at this stage also.

Roscommon produced a solid hard working performance last Sunday if repeated against Galway your team will be hard to beat in the Hyde. Joyce and his management i feel will have their home work done and will have pushed on after hard training in Portugal to dge this encounter.

In Shane Walsh, Galway have the best player in lreland. Roscommon have the brilliant Enda Smith, D Murtagh et al and possess a better team collective so they will probably win it. Galway has a bigger panel, so in the longer run they might go further in the All lreland series.
