Johnny Heaney putting in a player of the week shift for me anyway.
We should get a team/player of the week forum going for the Galway club championship, could be some interesting debates."
Rob Finnerty was outstanding for S/K. 1-5 from play and was a playmaker for others. Tomo looked good. Donnie Hunt a real threat going forward too. Anyone know what age he is or has he been involved with Galway underage teams?

I like the look of Moycullen.
Some amount of good players in that team.
3 Kellys, Conneely, Conor Bohan, Cooke, Gallagher. They won't be far away.

What's going on with The Jimmies, they seem to be getting worse every year since Pat Fallon took over.

Gallagher was spectacular at the weekend.
2 weeks time will tell where Moycullen are at when they face Corofin.
The Jimmies could be facing relegation after their performance against Barna.

Good to see Peter Cooke back. Would be a massive addition to County set up but only if he is all in for the league and the pre season training.

Any other stand out players that could make step up?? Anyone that didn't play county underage bolting??

Cooke, Mulkerrin, Mcglaughlin would be like having 3 new players. Extra year will bring Pa Kelly, Tomo and others on a good bit. One or 2 more would really make us a serious contender again.

I wouldn't write off Mike Daly or Ian Burke but only if they can commit fully. They have the class and the football but there is a lot of hard work required apart from that. Not having a go at them at all, They stepped away for their own reasons but we need them fully firing. It is a big commitment and at certain stages of peoples lives it is just not possible.

Lots of games in 2023 Championship structure so we need a strong panel. Every chance we will lose a couple with injuries.

Was Ronan Ó Bealáin ever a contention for a place under PJ?

I definitely think Liam Costello is good enough.
Was a sub v Meath in Navan March 2020 and then seemed to disappear off the scene since.
Hard to say on others as teams like Corofin and Tuam seem to be playing very well as a team as opposed to others where a fella might stand out in a poor team

I did hear before the 2022 season that Michael Daly would have committed to Galway but for injury - he is out injured for M/M at the moment. Would be great to have him back in the squad.
I think Ian Burke's ship has sailed though in terms of county football.
Not sure what the story is re Peter Cooke's availability but these lads would make us so much stronger. Having good bench options is crucial.
Adrian Varley is missed badly imo for impact off the bench.

Jimmes in serious trouble alright which is very evident when concannon a serious footballer in the twilght of his career is leading the forwards.

If it is 3 to go down there on very thin ice and could be joined by carroroe and monivea.

Like Oranmore who were going well in league Caltra placed to much emphasis on league results thinking they were world beaters imo.
MB will top this group with Brendan's also qualfying.

PS Williamstown will definitely go Junior. Simply haven't got the troops

I'd say only for he got injured that Conor O'Flaherty is very much Joyce's long term goalie. Much like Bernard Power, Conor Gleeson or Ruairi Lavelle, Ó Beollain probably just lacks something to his game. Some of them it's kickouts, high ball, agility etc. Joyce probably sees something more in O'Flaherty in the long term as the answer.

Matthew Barrett definitely looks worth a shot in the county squad next year. Good hands, very mobile and can kick a score. Has been very consistent for Mountbellew.

I would also add, the time could be right to have a look at Nathan Grainger in the FBD at least.
He's still very young but could flourish on the senior panel.

Interesting….I see 3 players on your list from CLAREGALWAY and 3 more CLAREGALWAY lads on the the Electric Ireland Minor Football Team of the Year. Fair play to them. Good representation from just one Parish.

I assume the "one Parish" comment is a bit "tongue in cheek"

Caltra would definitely have targeted championship especially when playing Brendans as Brendans defeated them comfortably at the same stage last year if I remember correctly.
Williamstown will survive, always pull it out of the bag when it matters.
2 teams go down to junior this year aswell making it interesting.

This really GBFM's team from last weekend? Johnny Heaney had a good first half for Killanin but faded in part 2. No Owen Gallagher - really?
