Monaghan game didn't go ahead like you were saying due to the Mckenna Cup game.

Yeah all pre bought tickets for adults, u16s don't need a ticket and a free.

Some serious display from Gorey CS capturing the South Leinster title. Full of pace, power and scoring prowess as they won by 29 points I think in the end. Some of their goals were outstanding team moves. They could conceivably produce half-a-dozen lads for the county team in the coming years. It's a boon for the game in the county that they finally seem to be getting their house in order.

yes, it seems masterson has put in a lot of work organising them there

couple of surprises on tomorrows team [to me] , strong 1/2 back line, very strong bench inc a couple of very young lads

Think Dylan Furlong is worth his starting place from the 2 games I saw and impressive club campaign last year too.

There are a couple of lads I wouldn't have on it named to start, but I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the management. Expecting a performance now to kick-start the campaign.

Very strong bench if all the lads are fully fit although some are probably on the bench as they did look a little off form against Meath and Wicklow.

Terrible display. Not scoring from play in the second half sums it up. We got cut apart down the stand side in the first half particularly and didn't address it at all. It says it all that our most attack-minded player in that first half was our goalie.

KOG was completely at sea tracking back despite starting well enough. Nolan too also kicked a lovely point early on but was anonymous thereafter, although almost scored a wonderful team goal. Is a passenger too often to be a certain starter. Tobin is ultra consistent at club level but am not sure he is quite up to it at this level.

I am on record saying Porter isn't good enough defensively for the full-back line, and he was badly exposed today. Terrible giveaway for their insurance point at the end. Even O'Connor wasn't his usual self but I thought Rossiter played well and looked trim, while Michael Furlong was excellent off the bench. Anyone know why Malone was taken off at HT?- we needed ball-carriers.

Sligo were cynical and played down the clock every chance they got, and they have now beaten us four times in our last five encounters so certainly don't fear us. Carribine was the MOTM and kicked some lovely scores, while number 7 was very good too. Hughes at full-forward won three balls- almost scored two goals and won a free from the other. Didn't look happy been taking off.

Promotion might be out of the window now, but the Division looks competitive with London bating Carlow and Waterford drawing with Tipp. Can't see us beating Cavan next week, but hope I am wrong. Would like to see some of the younger lads blooded now as there are lads there long enough now without much improvement.

There were some banging tunes in Wexford Park pre-game and at half-time.

Disappointing result but coupled with London beating Carlow it shows the Division is going to be very competitive. Some disappointing refereeing and too many points given away with turnovers when we were attacking. We really need to solid up our spine defensively at the top of the pitch. Try to slow down attacks in the opponents half before they build up speed. Still all is not lost as regards promotion before we get all the doom and gloom posters downing the lads and Roche and the management team.

In potentially such a tight division that could be a very damaging result, on the presumption we'll lose next week ( toughest game on paper without doubt) we might need to be flawless there after to be in promotion mix ( 4 win from 5 might give us an outside chance)

Taught our decision making let us down on a few occasions soloing in trouble or 1 player trying to break the tackle of 2 defenders, the missed goal chances in the 3rd quarter were a killer too. Not point feeling for ourselves now time dust ourselves down and go again.

Just as a general point was thinking today if Aidan Nolan isn't involved in the hurling would he be worth a call from Shane Roche, to be completely blunt, at club level he's impressed me more than some players playing today and obviously the S&C would be there 7-8 years on the hurling panel, obviously depending on if the player himself is interested.

Absolutely agree. Ready-made in terms of S&C as you say, and he could fill the void at either midfield (thought Lyons tried hard today but has a limited skill-set) or at centre-forward. Definitely worth approaching if possible.

Midfield is a problem area, center forward big concern too, forwards not able to score, strange decisions from Management during game, taking Malone off etc

I was bewildered by Roche's comments on the Sports Hour. He said the result isn't important, it's the performance. If promotion is the ultimate aim, winning at all costs trumps playing well. We didn't exactly wow the neutral going up under Banty the last time we got promoted.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I was concerned during the week to hear us talked up on a couple of podcasts on the circuit, 1 had Cavan favourites for the division with us and Tipp fighting for 2nd and another had Cavan favourites followed by us, Tipp and Leitrim. Personally i suspect Cavan and a level above the other 7 teams in Div 4 but I think its wide open after that, I think Tipp are there to be got at too with the backbone of their 2016 all Ireland semi final and 2020 Munster winning team either getting on or no longer there, i think they had 5 debutants starting today which shows their rebuilding, I think we're capable of being in the promotion mix but losing 1 of only 3 home games makes it a very difficult task.

Agreed that Cavan are the bit ahead of the other 7. Can't see Wexford getting up, after losing at home yesterday. The good thing is, ye won't be relegated anyway.
