Pity for this championship that much fancied Galway only showed up and showed us what they really are like in last 21 mins, what a real pity. Well done to Waterford though they saw this one out really well. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4895 - 24/07/2021 16:08:03 2363480 Link 1 |
With all their minor success, there should be plenty of new talent coming through. The senior Manager needs to step down. From last October's Leinster Final which they blew away, it hasn't nearly been good enough from Galway. They beat Tipp in last year's quarter final but I doubt they'd have done so if Cathal Barrett hadn't been sent off.

That was an upset. Galway's comeback not enough. Credit Waterford on a great win.

Pity for this championship? They've played two games, losing to a mediocre Dublin team, and were totally outclassed by Waterford, who were reduced to 14 men for the whole of the second half.

It's one thing looking for a new manager but is that the answer? I hope it's that simple. Sigh.

How was it embarrassing ?? They gave their best, that's all anyone can do ! You are a typical of a Galway supported, They done us proud as usual! These bunch of players have given us great enjoyment and are always fighting to the end. Mannion was dangerous at full forward, fair play to Joe so selfless to give the two passes for Flynn's goals. I'm am delighted for flynn as he is a great player as he takes alot of undue stick from Galway people.

I think Galway only came into the game when it became more pedestrianised and Waterford toiling with 14 men,for some reason this Waterford team reminds me of their '59 AI winning team ....class hurlers!

That's called being in denial. Galway are one of the great underachievers in hurling. Promise a lot but can't deliver. Dublin and Waterford won handy enough in truth and Waterford were down a good contingent of players from last year. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 24/07/2021 16:23:34 2363497 Link 3 |
I agree with you 100% but that limerick lad we had as manager turned out to be a utter disaster. Hasn't a clue god bless him!!

Unexpected win. Conor can have no complaints. Glad he did not seriously injure Joe. It probably should have been 14 a side shortly after. Waterford stood up which is a bit unusual and that is what decided the 3 quarter. They were always going to run out of gas. I said it last year watch out for Kiely. A big Dan type player with more pace. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2655 - 24/07/2021 16:24:20 2363499 Link 1 |
Why is it supporters always feel the need for a new manager when things dont go right for a year? Put yourself in O Neills shoes. Most of his best players are the wrong side of 30 and the way the modern game has gone there are very few top players able to go much beyond 30. TJ Reid the most obvious exception but even he got rested every other game during the league. For all of Galways recent underage success most of the younger lads didnt really put their hand up during the league with the exception of Niland. I fear you need more than just a new manager Katser.

Joe is a special player. The two balls he sent to Flynn when Galway needed goals no one could imitate. He is unselfish and an ambassador for the game

Wouldve nearly put the house on tony Kelly putting away that last goal chance. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 11712 - 24/07/2021 18:13:07 2363527 Link 0 |
Cork just got over the line, not very impressive.Tony Kelly almost won it for Clare at the death.I thought there should have been another play in it as there was a stoppage before the added time commenced and the subs and stoppages in the added time.
