Start with 2 tiers. 4 groups of 4 in each.

Start with "levelling the playing field".

I thought the pitch looked in reasonable condition myself.

The playing field has never been level. It doesn't exist in any sport. Too many people look back at the 90s and 2000s but that was an exceptional period. Normal business has resumed now. Dublin would be on 16 in a row in Leinster were it not for Meath in 2010.

Sorry for the confusion Rolo, what I meant was start with levelling the playing field as of now, what's gone is gone, - dont look back.

Would take a lot of money and work. There is this East Leinster project but it could take another ten years before that comes to fruition.

Good run up of scores from the Kerry lads but I expected a lot more from Clare who were awful.

Another one sided affair. Clare were poor for all the talk of them being competitive. Handy fodder really.

This is the championship, just look at the results and we are only starting.

Time for a Senior /Intermediate / Junior Championship, too many very one sided games in the current format. Keep the providential Championships as a separate competition but the All Ireland has to be seeded.

Agreed that we need different divisions in the championship ( it's long overdue) but gotta be careful with the naming. It shouldn't be implied that because they are from a division 4 side for instance they are junior footballers. I think this is one of the reasons some of the players from the smaller counties have an issue with this.

I have been thinking of a new championship structure that might tick all boxes.

Mid January: start league
Mid March League finals, with the caveat of 1st place in league wins the division 2,3 and 4 even on goal difference, a play off then for promotion between teams 2nd and 3rd. This could be played in croke park, or neutral venue to help boost provincial towns economy. I think this has great potential imagine Division 2 and 3 playoff double header in mullingar with Meath v Roscommon in div 2 and Laois v Cavan div 3 for example i think you could possibly get 10k to that, be a brillaint atmosphere, or put in tullamore ,portlaoisse, thurles, breffni etc. The Division 1 final could be between 1st and 2nd if you wanted a final but i think team that comes first should just get cup on final day tbh. The playoffs could happen on a "playoff weekend" or paddys day .

In april you could still leave for clubs, in May play off provincial championships starting May bank holiday and finish last weekend in May, no need for more than 4 weeks.
Possibly maybe june bank holiday have a provinical finals weekend. Now how we keep the provinces alive is that, the finalists are seeded for the Sam Maguire chamionship.
From first week in june 8 groups of 4 seeded from provicial championship take place, top 2 into last 16 of sam maguire , bottom 2 into last 16 of Tailteann Cup. play off every second week through july to final in august. Try Friday night games among neighbours etc,

The first weekend of the Championship and away we go with another snore fest… A bunch of lob sided turkey shoots in both codes… Sky commentator at half time in both games wondering what Sligo/Clare were going to do to get back in the games… Cringing stuff…. I'd say tickets will soon be sent back as they won't be able to find 2/300 fools to go to games
