If Meath have any any chance today they need to recall back Throw Sherdian to the squad to score a few tries. All jokes aside hopefully Meath can put it up to the Dubs and we have a decent game of football. RIP to the 14 innocent souls who were murdered on this day 100 years ago by the forces of the crown.

Replying To ConnollyDub:  "Really looking forward to the match tonight. I genuinely hope Meath give us a good game. I really miss the Dub/Meath games of the past. The games where you genuinely hadn't a clue who would come out on top. You'd wake up with a knot in your stomach with the nerves. And you absolutely hated Meath. No two ways about it, I despised Meath. But by god did I respect them.

Unfortunately i haven't hated Meath for a long long time now. I actually kinda like to see them do well. And that for me says it all about what was once THE GREAT rivalry in the GAA. Its DEAD!!

They're definitely going in the right direction mind you, and regardless of what people would have you think, Dublin are not as strong as previous years.

So maybe the great rivalry might make a revival!!!! But not this year!!! Comfortable win for the Dubs!"
Fairplay ConnollyDub, I can only really mirror your sentinents from a Meath point of view.

Meath v Dublin used to be huge, I'd be buzzing all week in the lead up and the day itself was almost unbearable tension, you hadn't a clue who was going to win. I hated the sight of a Dublin jersey and wanted nothing more than to have the bragging rights for another year.

Ultimately, all in good spirits though, shake hands and move on once the game is over. I think any kind of proper/bitter hatred is silly, life's too short for that nonsense.

Now I'm still looking forward to the game tonight and hoping for the best but the craic isn't really the same because of how far Dublin have gone ahead of us. However we have to keep trying to bridge the gap and make the game matter again and hopefully tonight we can make some ground.

I can see Meath being well in this after 50 minutes. What will ultimately show where Meath are is how the last 15 or so minutes pans out. It'll not be a massacre this time though.

I live well within 5km of Croke Park

I'll bring the dog for a walk down that way and have a quick look in as I pass by

The game will be on the radio right?

Hoping for a somewhat close game later. Meath have come on a lot. Can Meath do a Cork? I wish, but doubtful, Dublin are no kerry. I just hope the came is somewhat close and meath can bring a bit of fun back to leinster. Crazy to call a meath win, but I think they could, if they play at their best push to 4 or 5 points, which would a very decent performance and they could grow on that. .Anyway, lets see. I am kinda looking forward to leinster match for once.

If the Dubs continue to be as wasteful in front of goal and Meath continue to finish their own chances well.. anything is possible

I've a strong feeling it's going to be a competitive game

I'd take a hard fought 1 score win right now

Great satisfaction in 1 point wins Jimbo but not great for the heart.

Big day for Lahiff and P Small if the named team starts, swim or sink time.

Equally Sr. Desmond of Glasnevin, big show of faith in these lads.

There are possibly 2 things at play here. A) its well known that the Dublin people in general have zero knowledge of life/ sport outside the M50 and have looked at the stats in the back pages of the Herald and said "uh oh Meath are a goal threat" despite them playing counties where the game is no longer taken seriously or B) this is a bad attempt at the type of cute k#@$ism that Kerry people have mastered over the decades.

According to many pundits Dublin aren't as good as they were. No Jim Gavin anymore and no crowd certainly makes an argument for that.

Meath are meant to be much improved from last year. Playing in division 1 should help that improvement and in fairness to them they were competitive in each of their 7 league games.

With all of that in mind there should not be 16 points between the sides tonight and Meath should be scoring a lot more than a mere 0-4.

To be honest back in the day I never really hated Dublin. I was very tense before playing all right and it was a great occasion.
Back then every team Meath played used to complain, Meath looked forward to playing Dublin, beating the shi*e out of each other and no complaints after from either team after. I used to find Dublin supporters would wind you up but rarely got too nasty.
I think all the Dublin people moving to Meath has made some Meath people more against Dublin than before.
