Mayo V Dublin

Replying To jacktheDub:  "I love all the talk about Mayo on the build up to this game...you can almost feel all the so called neutrals willing Mayo to win this. Cold hard facts are Mayo have not beaten Dublin in 14 attempts they staggered over the line having been beaten twice already this year. The only fear I have is the like of COC diving in front of players to get them black card, big Aido going down like he has been shot and trying to ref the games themselves. Key for Dublin is discipline, don't give away frees because o'connor offers nothing from play. McLaughlin has been poor this year, Coen at full forward is slow and seems very selfish shoot onsite type of player. Doherty will be a loss. DOC if he does play will lack match fitness and sharpness. Mayo have regressed since 17 and Dublin have improved. I am very confident Dublin will win this by 6+ points."
On a given day with 15v15 that all means jack squat. Many thought the same when facing Donegal, an exceptional Donegal team, in 14. At the end of the day this Mayo team, although lacking consistency, still contains top notch footballers and all-stars all over the pitch. That and the fact that they have as much experience as this Dublin team in playing at Croker to a packed house at the business end, means that they have to be respected. A couple of misfiring forwards, a few full back line defensive lapses and the scales will tip. Mayo have the players to do the damage. Dublin can show complacency. Big games required of our big name players. I'm sure Jim has a plan and I'm sure the lads will perform but it should be a cracking contest.

Replying To Joxer:  "Thought McLoughlin did very well when he came on at the weekend. Could see Vaughan on Scully maybe. That whole middle sector will be some battle with AOS, Ruane, Fenton, Macauley or James. Howard will be in the mix there as well. Keegan and Kilkenny could cancel each other out. Fascinating match ups all over the place."
Mcloughlin could start looked fresh when he came on, he might be sacrificed to try and curb McCaffrey even though I think it will be Durcan. Otherwise Durcan will go to Howard.

Dublin unfortunately wont show complacency or arrogance unlike some fans here.

Mayo are definitely the people's champion but then so were we in 2011, although to a lesser extent.
Everyone loves an underdog unless they happen to be opposing your own team.

Replying To Breezy:  "If they did go down and start a fight the should be penalised for it. Dont see why they think they have the right to warm up on a particular side of a neutral venue"
Neutral venue? But all you country folk maintain that Croker is Dublins home venue! Make your minds up!

Are you saying that no Mayo fans are buying tickets in Supervalu and/or via tickets.ie?

Mayo have no kick out strategy whatsoever which will be there down fall in this game IMO. They are putting a lot of emphasis on AOS and if he has a bad game then they are gossed, a la Killarney. Dublin to attack the wings and bypass Aidan.

The week turnaround will be too much, which is a farce by the way.

CON for man of the match.

Dublin by 4.

Irony of ironies imagine knowing Mayo's luck and Black curse! They beat the Dubs and lose the final, what a consolation.

Looking forward to Mayo upsetting the GAA hierarchys dream & the returning hordes out of hibernation by spiking the coronation. The majority hoping Mayo pip this which can be done. Hopefully Horan will spring a surprise & target that Dublin full back line. Massive pressure on the ref as everybody knows what the GAA & Sky want, hopefully Mayo won't be rode as badly as expected.

What an utterly nonsensical post.

The gas thing is, for Mayo and Tyrone it's about winning an all-Ireland, for Kerry, its about us not winning it.

That is spot on! For that reason they won't win. Plus obviously Dublin are better. And mayo. Possibly Tyrone.

The fact is that Mayo need to beat their opponents to reach an All Ireland - that is the objective of any team in a semi-final. The Dublin/Kerry rivalry is a side issue, one that will not concern them. Don't mention the drive for 5 - the poor Dubs might panic! lol

Haven't seen anyone say it but all the best to Jason Doherty on his recovery from his knee injury huge loss for Mayo was playing great football and one of the main reasons Mayo are in the semi.

I daresay Jim Gavin might just spring a surprise himself.
