Replying To ExiledInWex:  "Happy new year to my adopted county supporters and best of luck for the year ahead. You lads are mad for matches and its only the 12th Jan! The enthusiasm for the game is second to none. Good luck to Rossiter and his troops for the year ahead. I always want Wexford to win bar against Dublin.

To me, this year Wexford's main target has to be to get about another 6-7 players up to the speed of the inter county game and not to be relying on a handful of players.

There needs to be about 5 players from that u20 team from last year putting their hand up. Their match v Offaly was on TG4 this week and I never saw it back but man were they unlucky. But now is the time to step up.

The players should be hurting after what went on last year and its time to see a new look Wexford team. That performance v Clare in the league last year was the worst I ever saw from a Wexford team but it and the result v Westmeath needs to be learned from and as a player, you have to use the hurt from last year to drive you this year.

Hands up, I don't see Wexford winning Leinster or making a final but I hope you will see new faces establish themselves as senior hurlers. The team of 2019 are nearly done now and I feel Wexford still look to Ryan, Chin, O'Hanlon, Reck, O'Keefe, Rory O'Connor when the chips are down. I think Wexford can win Leinster in about 2-3 years if everybody commits to it now.

But good luck for the year ahead. I'd love for Dublin hurling to have as vibrant a message board but can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear."
Every team looks to it's best players when the chips are down! Where would Dublin be without O Donnell and Burke? Damien Reck and Rory O Connor are only 26. There's a good gap between u20 and Senior I'd be frankly amazed if we get 5 championship starters from last years team, though obviously I'd be delighted at the same time!

Anybody outside of Wexford would not bet on us.

It is within our capabilities but unlikely this year.

Ryan, Mac and roc have plenty left in them.

I mentioned earlier the three players I think are most likely to make the grade this year.

From that 20 team I'd say they're two or three seasons away still.

Kilkennys weakened team hammered them so let's see how Wexfords weakened team get on against them.

Team named same as last weekend only for Fanning in goal. Plenty of new and fringe lads being given an opportunity hopefully they go well! Looking forward to the game now!

4 goalies currently on the 43 man Walsh cup training panel.

Are Fanning and Lawlor going to be 1 & 2 for the year or is Aaron Duggan showing any signs of replacing either of them?

Great to see it. There's only two that you'd say are guaranteed to start come championship but looks reasonably strong in spite of that.

Yes. Really hoping some of our new and newer lads put their hands up Sunday. If we win we get a game against Kilkenny to see where our younger and fringe lads are relative to theirs. Carlow will have a near full strength team out and their team holiday will be a distant memory, anyone expecting us to beat them by 20 points like Kilkenny did needs to have their head looked at.

Nothing much to shout about first game and was scrappy enough. Chin played well and looked a level above everyone else. Reck was solid, Foley got through a good bit of work. Tucker Kinsella was lively enough. Cian Byrne played well was a positive got three from play when he came in. Carlow were limited and that won't be good enough against Kilkenny.

Just home. Typical Walsh Cup January fare. Great to see the variations on puckouts and general play though with a mix of long and short balls and runners coming through. Will take a bit of practicing to get perfect but all in all it didn't break down as often as I was expecting with the cold ball and cold hands.
Fannings puckouts were in general better than Lawlors, with the exception of the point given away and the time he pucked it out to Jacko and 3 Carlowmen, when we had no 2nd man there to compete for the 2nd ball.
The fullback line looked pretty solid, as did Reck at 6. Charlie and Mikey did let the ball go past them more times than you would like your wingbacks to, but Carlow didn't really have the pace inside to capitalise.
Kevin Foley played very well, Conor Hearne did OK too. Kevin's ball to Jack Doran for the goal was real highlight reel stuff.
Lee Chin was our best player, Tucker seems to have added a bit more bite to his game which is encouraging also. Jacko was in and out of the game.
Ritchie played out the field and got on ball, Cathal Doyle looked busy and made good runs and should've had a couple of points think maybe nerves got the better off him on his debut. Seamus was quieter than he was in Ferns last weekend.

Terrible standard. Chin sticking out like a sore thumb as usual. Hopefully his injury isn't too bad, be typical to lose him in a walsh cup game in January.

Of the subs Cian Byrne took his points well, Jack Doran made a good run through for his goal, Corey Byrne Dunbar was lively, it was good to see Cian Molloy and Mark Byrne make their debuts also.
Will watch it back on clubber now usually you'd see more watching it back.

Nothing much to say about the backs.

Very good in the first half all over. Not as good in the second.

Chin superb.

Jacko struggled.

Foley and hearne good. Thought tucker and Richie lawlor probably next best.

Hearne came out of every single ruck with possession for the duration of the game.

A fairly professional performance, just overplayed the ball a bit. Those breaks will be much sharper on harder ground.

Kilkenny will be a different thing altogether.

It was a nice crowd for Carlow in the Walsh cup in January. Glad to see people behind Rossi.

He looks in great shape. He actually asked to stay on.

Infairness everyone should be behind rossi. He bleeds wexford. He knows players will have to be found and supporters will have to give him time. I think its better blend in younger lads with a few experienced guys but playing chin om the 14th of January against a poor carlow team is absolutely madness. I know he wants to play but lee is such a key player for wexford what are you going to learn today. There was enough experience there without playing him. I know rossi wanted to get off on the right note at home but no one will remember this in a few months time.

Typical January fare as mentioned above, really had the feel of a glorified challenge game especially the 2nd half backs did well on the whole with Reck the standout, Charlie, Hearne and Tucker similar in that they all had good 1st half's, a quiet 20 mins or so after half time and finished the game strongly, Chin was moving very well while Kevin Foley was the biggest positive for me, his form dropped off the last couple of years but it would huge if he could rediscover it. Cian Byrne pick of the subs for me while Corey Dunbar was very busy too.

Kilkenny game at 4 next Saturday in Mooncoin according to SE radio, was provisionally down for Sunday but with the club finals was always expecting a change.

To be honest I think it's a big positive LC is playing these kind of games. With injuries etc he missed far too much hurling in recent years. Shows he still wants it.
