Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "All the last round of the League matches are not scheduled to be played at the same time,

Allianz HL Division 1 Group A round 5

Saturday 16 March
Waterford v Kilkenny, Walsh Park, 3pm

Sunday 17 March
Offaly v Clare, Glenisk O'Connor Park, 1.45pm
Wexford v Cork, Chadwicks Wexford Park, 1.45pm"
Didnt think the gaa would allow the final round games on seperate days

Word around the place here is its be moved to the 16th but still down for the 17th on GAA website, all seems a bit uncertain, reason for moving if that does happen as far as I know is traffic issues with the Paddy's day parade. Also Croke and Hogan cup finals are on Paddys day so depending on which schools make that it could also effect schedule if they want clashes to be avoided for supporters, although that doesn't effect Wexford.

I didn't think they'd split the last round games either, but clearly I was wrong. Didn't realise there are already some other games fixed for 16th.

15 vs 14. 5 up with 20 mins to go and we had them on the ropes. Chance of playing Kilkenny in the final.

A scar that is taking a long time to heal.

Dcu have 5 from Wexford down to start with 2 more on panel..they met in league final in December and it was a very decent game to watch..2 other names to keep an eye on,the late tony keadys son at midfield and David o Reilly from Westmeath both with ul..

Replying To Afinestick:  "Given the 7-8 experienced players we still have to return id be delighted if we got to a league final to get more game time into those lads and more top level exposure for our younger lads. We arent in a position in Wexford to be turning down a place in a national league final. We would still have 2 weeks to prepare for Dublin and would probably be playing a challenge game that weekend anyway. It's hard to see us reaching the league final at the moment we would need to beat Cork and Waterford, get ahead on Clare or KK on score difference and then beat one of Galway, Limerick or Tipp in a semi final"
Some of those to return are key players but it's rare enough a player can miss the entire league and be up to championship pace. Egan made that mistake last year, playing lads that were half fit and we paid for it. The championship team v Dublin needs new blood anyway so I really think likes of Dee, McGovern, Mac, MoH etc will have to play their way onto the team during the Leinster championship but starting from the bench.

Last year it wasn't that the lads were half fit. It was that they were still half injured. Or fully injured. Reck and Chin missed the Galway game, while others played while not fully fit. Most picked up knocks against Cork in the League, Reck, OHanlon, Dee, Mogie, Mac etc all went off injured. Our only decent performance in the League last year came at a cost. Reck and Ryan started against Dublin in the championship when neither was able to run.

That's how it was in 2022 and 2023 (I checked).
This could possibly be a disadvantage to Kilkenny and Waterford, where the other counties playing on Sunday will know what is required (draw, win, points difference) in relation to where they'll finish against the 2 playing on Saturday. Is there something happening that prevents the Waterford v Kilkenny being played on a Sunday?

Disappointing about Foley he is a certain starter if fully fit. Looking forward to seeing ROC back fit . I think he could cause havoc in a two man full forward line the way we are playing good ball into the corners and keeping two in at all times

And it's for that exact reason Rossiter wants/needs a bigger panel ready to go for championship.

Keith won't forget in the 2021 Leinster semi-final v Kilkenny Dee had to come off as a sub in the 70th minute of normal time absolutely shattered and then he was put back on by Davy Fitz 7mins into extra time barely able to walk.

That's is why the Corey's, Lawlors & Molloys etc are needed up to speed in this league.

The management of that game was a disgrace by Davy Fitz and really says it all about the bad parts of his time with Wexford.

Absolutely. It's all about the panel these days.

Given how dominant Limerick have become that could have been the best chance in a while to get an AI. I would have fancied Wexford to beat Kilkenny in the final.

Was at freshers final tonight..a credit to both teams for the game provided in absolutely diabolical conditions..the Wexford boys certainly didn't leave dcu down in any way..I don't usually mention young hurlers by name but two of them really impressed, number 2 Dylan purcell and 15 daragh Murphy..

Watched it on the livestream. Entertaining game ! Didn't look like the best of conditions but both sides battled hard. Was pretty impressed with the Wexford lads, hopefully the ones that are on the panel can bring their good college form into the u20s over the coming months.

We'd have fancied ourselves as well.

It's doubtful we'll get as good a chance again for the foreseeable future.

If you'd told me then how the next 5 years would go I'd have said you were mad.
