Replying To WEXILE:  "[quote=Pikeman96:  "Yeah, a whole thing when the Tailteann Cup was first being established was the GAA promising that its semi-finals would have sole billing some Sunday each year, for the sake of promoting and showcasing the competition. Hence the hurling quarter-finals are on the Saturday.

And I believe the early throw-in times for the quarter-finals are down to RTE being committed to showing soccer matches from the European Championships later that day.

IF we make it to the quarter-finals, the Féile being on in Wexford that day doesn't help things either. For a start, I think there's something like 18 or 20 Wexford clubs involved across hurling and camogie, and the Féile being on means they're basically being told 'you can forget about going to the senior hurling match'.

Could also make it difficult for all the venues to even get volunteers for the day. Considering that games are to go on all day until about 5 p.m. or later, volunteers would face a situation of 'not only can you not go to the match, you might not even be able to watch the match'.

But anyway....we have to get there first."
If we make the quarters then should the county board be making a lot of noise trying to change the date. Itd a ridiculous situation."
I'd be fairly sure they're already thinking about making some noise about having things changed if we get there. But hard to see any leeway on it as regards the date, unless Croke Park goes back on its word about Tailteann Cup semi-finals having sole billing on a Sunday.

County Board would be caught by the whole timing of it too. Surely can't make much noise until or unless we actually qualify for a quarter-final, and that won't be before Saturday evening, meaning probably Monday before any noise can be made properly. And that in turn would be just five days before the scheduled date of the quarter-finals. Really is hard to see anything being changed."]If we do pull through on Saturday I dont think theres much the Co Board can do about the time and venue with only a week in between

Shane Dowling and Declan Hannon (playing centre forward) absolutely destroyed us that day, match was over after 25 mins, think we played Clare twice and Dubs u20 in one week and played Waterford the following week, on a side note… David Redmonds goal that night was pure class.

Even the neutrals couldn't help but cheer!

What is wrong with 5pm and 7pm?"
Both the Euro's and the URC final are also on so its too avoid TV clashes. Unless people want them shown on GAAGO which I'm sure will cause another uproar. Can't have it every way.

There are only 5 Senior intercounty hurling games left after this weekend. They should all be on a Sunday. And on TV. Prime time. And it's a joke that our game against Laois isn't even on GAAGO. An all Ireland preliminary QF. One of the last 7 games of Senior intercounty hurling left until next year.
Promoting the game of hurling my ####.

He's definitely not right…against Galway he could barely run

If we get over Laois, Liam Ryan will be a huge loss v Clare if not available.

His height, tough style of hurling and presence needed against the likes of Peter Duggan and David Fitzgerald running through middle of defence.

Why not play wexfrod and clare in portloaise and get a crowd in for 7.00 on the Saturday. Surely the other game can merge up with a Football QF which will be on that week. The GAA is slowly killing our sports from what it once was with ridiculous throw in times and souless venues.

Ah now, unless we have another meltdowns, this should be a trimming for Laois and not much of a game. That's no disrespect to Laois but a week out from been beaten in the Joe Mc and playing a team that beat Galway, should have Dublin and could have Kilkenny and with a couple of weeks rest.

We are on a hiding to nothing here. If we win by 20pts everyone will clamor on about how it's unfair to Laois to play so soon after losing. If they come within 6 points people will think it's ok. It should be closer to the 20pts if we think we want to have any chance against Clare. Its like this if it was Clare playing Laois what result would anyone expect.

Keeping it off the screens may be no harm

Jack injury mustn't be to bad, because apart from Ryan there was only suppose to be some niggles. D O Keefe probably won't feature at all this year now, even if we win on Saturday, I taught he might have been OK to be on the bench and get some minutes in the legs this week. Cian Molly is a strange one, no word on injury either. Mickey has been very poor and it no surprise he not in the squad. Ryan, D O Keefe, Molloy and Jack, 4 possible starters missing and at very least the squad would be a lot stronger with them available.
