I should have said that SCORE BEO is the name of the Gaa App. Free and highly recommended.

They should be beating TU Dublin even with Sean Kelly and Tommy Conroy not togged but you are right when you look at the starting forward line - Sweeney, O'Flaherty, Kilcommins, Ryan Monahan, O'Congahile and O'Donoghue. That contains four players who aren't forwards. Cillian O'Curraoin on the bench makes no sense. I suspect they will have a very different starting team in the next round.

Jaysus, Midfield was awful. Half back line disappeared. No centre back. I would have moved Kilcommins midfield he did a lot of covering for the centre back in the league which the two midfielders last night did not do. Kelly ( who is not a midfielder should be moved to 12) McLoughin was taken off and should have been gone earlier. I watched the league final and he scored three monsters, but do you want a midfield taking these on?. Liam O Conghaile is a 10 all day ( I think he is a star in the making) was taken off because he is NOT a centre forward. Sweeney carries the ball into cul de sacs, he just does not see the pass. O Flaherty turned the ball over too much even though with 13 on his back he seemed to start in the half back line. O Currain made a big difference. O Donoghue was good inside but was starved of position by the midfielders who cannot kick pass. Read the independant this morning and he seem to get the subs wrong because I thought UOG made more subs O Conaghaile, Monaghan, McLoughlin were definitely taken off and Kilcommons definitely played the full match. Am I right? On another note did anyone think the UOG jerseys numbers were hard to read. LottoPlus (Kilkenny) - Posts: 85 - 10/01/2024 10:46:37 2519378 Link 0 |
Ryan O'Donoghue might have been ok, but he missed a free to level it that my Mother would have got. The jersey colour doesn't matter - that is just in these guys.

Did someone get injured in college game? Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1889 - 10/01/2024 13:40:32 2519414 Link 0 |
I'd say Sean Kelly is a doubt for the start of the league as well. Maurice Sheridan said last night that he might not play at all for the college in the Sigerson this year. Priority is probably to get right for Galway.

Good post, i would definitely agree with Kevin Johnson, i would think that Don connellan should have done better with the squad he had and Sean kelly did miss the final but they definitely underperformed, with regards Ja Jennings's i think milltown had a very easy group 2 of the team in relegation at the end of the year but probably over achieved in the championship so i would be happy there, for me Barry Downey has done a great job with St James's from where they were last year, and dunmore had a really tough group with top teams and were very competitive in every game i would go with the following, 1. Kevin Johnson 2. Barry Downey 3. Jarlath Jennings 4. Gary Delaney 5. Bunty Roache 6. Don Connellan 7. Val Daly 8. killannin under 19 Fox.1n.7he.b0x (Galway) - Posts: 134 - 10/01/2024 14:38:23 2519425 Link 0 |
Seán Kelly in recent interview said he had two injuries to sort out and should never have played against Mayo last year. Retured to field training and will target a return for the start of the league while sitting out sigerson cup action. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 234 - 10/01/2024 15:00:51 2519430 Link 0 |
If sigerson does not happen for S Kelly or any other college players it is almost certain the league will also be out, that is how important this competition is to 3rd level students.

Don connellan should have done better? To see how Moycullen did before he arrived and what he won with them and only losing any match after a competitive battle was exceeding expectations for a team that haven't got many good scoring forwards from play.

Yes they should have more county tittles won and this year would have or should have been an easy one for them, with the squad they have, now all be it not all home grown but they should have pushed on further this year, they should have dominated like corofin have done in the recent past,

Not likely to see what Corofin did again or the foreseeable. No easy titles won the last 3/4 years in Galway and I would expect county titles to be shared out in Galway over the next 5 years than one team dominating.

I would agree with that re corofin but I do think moycullen should have more won than they have, just like mountbellew they have a serious squad also and only have one county tittle to show for it, makes it interesting for the foreseeable

They won 2,probably should have won 3.Corofin feat won't be beaten as there is only a very narrow gap between the top 5 or 6 teams. They have caught upto Corofin at this stage and it's only fine margins.

The Kieran Murphy/Maurice Sheridan/Don Connellan trifecta is surely coming to an abrupt end ? MapleSyrup (Galway) - Posts: 165 - 11/01/2024 09:06:36 2519537 Link 0 |
I don't think I've ever seen a Maurice Sheridan team play great football. Same on the hurling side in the college, Lynskey has done nothing with Galway underage or Fitzgibbon teams to suggest he is a good manager.

Team and panel named. Lots of experimenting, good to see Antaine O'Laoi back. He had a great year in 2019. smallfrank (Galway) - Posts: 442 - 11/01/2024 13:13:36 2519600 Link 0 |
