There's about 17 pitches outside the dome with Flood Lights. You bring a game indoors when conditions are bad, when conditions are mild you can play it outside. This is early January - it's very possible that games will be postponed because of the weather. Nobody knows until very close to the time what the weather will be like. Pre season comps will most likely be scrapped anyway very soon" In fairness when you have a settled spell like we have at the moment, you can fairly easily forecast a good few days ahead. The past week was forecast as cold, calm and dry and it's been exactly that. Moving the game outside wouldn't have been a big logistics operation, given the pitch is next door. I remember the opposite story in the U20 between Galway and Mayo a couple of years ago. It was played outside in Bekan in a hurricane, and the dome sitting empty behind them. It's great to have the dome, but it seems some managers consider it a bit of a risk to play competitive games there. Is there a perception of a greater risk of injury? It seems as if the surface can be harder on the joints than grass alright. Indoor should only be used as a last straw of no playable pitches in Connacht and the provincial club championships was played off this winter with matches outdoors and for years the FBD did also. A good win for this team on Friday night, from the team I would say maybe 3/4 could add something to the 26 looking ahead to the summer. Did Pádraic change up his backroom team over the winter? The new faces you seen are the management team of the Galway development squad. The Galway 'A' team played Meath in a challenge on Saturday. A good approach from Joyce IMO. Plenty of players being given a chance. Interested to see if D'Arcy can impress after a good year with Ballyboden. Would like to see him get the full 70 against the Rossies along with a few more of last years subs, and lets see what they are made of. The more options we have the better. Think he's due back next month but given the league is not far away he'll probably be doing well to play much of a part in it. Pity as he's got serious potential.
