Not comparing them at all but I don't understand how there could be a lawsuit from neighbours work colleague or family members of a player first of all they would have to prove that they caught the virus off a player or in a game which is impossible!

You ever hear the term "frivolous lawsuits"....just google it. From spilling an obviously hot liquid on yourself to the neighbors dog dropping a load on your lawn can lead to lawsuits. There are people in prison for murder when no body was ever found so technically the "dead" person could be partying on a beach somewhere. I guess you couldn't PROVE a player caught it off another player so the games should be starting any day now...

The story in the Irish Examiner on the GAA season tickets is absolutely shocking. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 28/04/2020 18:10:23 2276932 Link 1 |
Never mentioned the games starting or anything I just was wondering how these lawsuits would work I've been working all through this as we are deemed essential so if someone in my workplace gets it and I get sick can I sue my workplace then? Can the family's or neighbours of healthcare professionals who get sick sue the Hse!

The R value with metres infection rate has begun to rise in Germany according to reports today. Germany recently started to relax restrictions. I don't think restrictions here will be lifted on the 5th and will likely be extended beyond the June bank holiday. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11683 - 28/04/2020 18:35:27 2276937 Link 3 |
I understand. We are both just chatting in hypotheticals here. Even the experts are mostly guessing In some cases. I'd say in the case of healthcare types it's an understood risk. Same as the police or military in the event of them getting shot. Tragic, but an understood risk. I've been working through all this too.

Yeah just still trying to remain positive that we might be in a better place come sept/Oct and that things might be some way under control and we might see even club games of some form

Well that's all you can do. Hope for the best. I really thought the Galway Footballers had a chance to do something this year. The Hurlers too. Damn shame.

https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/gaa/gaa-altered-season-ticket-refund-terms-after-coronavirus-outbreak-996535.html Nice show of solidarity with gaels who might be struggling from top brass. At least trying to play games behind closed doors will cost them money in refunds as the games won't be cancelled. Might be worth contacting them on this clause either way: GAA may make changes and update these terms and conditions at any time without further notice to you. It is your sole responsibility to check the terms and conditions periodically, because your continued use of the Season Ticket will mean you accept those changes and updates. We haven't used the tickets since so let them know you don't accept the change. Greenfield (Meath) - Posts: 524 - 28/04/2020 21:49:39 2276958 Link 3 |
GAA put clause in the T&C's of season ticket holders to say in event of circumstances beyond their control they don't have to refund season tickets. An absolute disgrace. Turned over €73.9m last year and to do this to supporters is disgusting.

Sad that it comes to this. They HAD to know how tacky this would look. Who actually thought this was a good idea?

Germany rate of infections has going up after some easing of lockdown. Deaths up too. Austria the figures are going up as well. This is not good. Seems hot weather does not kill this damm virus either . Desperate stuff . Really think the vaccine message has real substance , there likely no sport perhaps well into 2021. This virus could get real bad before it gets sorted Talking_Sense (Meath) - Posts: 209 - 29/04/2020 02:10:26 2276967 Link 2 |
It's not disgusting at all. Gaa is still a business and doesnt run on fresh air

Fresh air is not going to pay the mortgage for people who might be struggling either. This was a sly, underhanded attempt by the GAA (which was at one stage a movement, not a business) to stick it to people they think they can because those people have shown they are loyal by buying season tickets and will probably come back anyway. Money has destroyed the association. There are people on big wages to make decisions like this, like adding hurling matches to the calendar without amending the TV rights, like renewing competition sponsorship for competitions that may change format, like destroying the integrity of competitions with funding imbalances. There is no vision from top brass and a series of nonsensical decisions. If the GAA lose money and can't afford to pay the people making these decisions, I say fine. Let the whole thing burn and we can start again from the bottom up. Greenfield (Meath) - Posts: 524 - 29/04/2020 09:55:48 2276971 Link 2 |
If the gaa is a business well then it should pay all of its workers not just the lads at the top,do they realise they're fleesing the very people who are doing all the ground work for their business? This is rotten and it reflects very badly on the organisation. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 29/04/2020 10:00:14 2276973 Link 3 |
For all those red thumbing. Care to say why you disagree with the post rather than hide behind the red thumbs. Gaa did make 70+ million which is all reinvested straight back into the game as will this money from season tickets.
