Classic example of Irish planning! After all the hupla around how great the super 8s will be, it turns out that not once did anyone stop to think if the infrastructure was actually in place to support it. I wonder how many other counties with teams you'd consider potential participants, don't have a stadium large enough to take advantage of the home game. Kildare lads should line out at 7pm in St. Conleths regardless of what HQ want. They were drawn first, end of, thems the rules.. If Mayo have the balls to turn up we will have a really top quality game to savour. We have played there plenty of times just like Mayo but it's not our home venue. We played Mayo in Newbridge a few months ago. This is a disgrace, Kildare and Cavan should have had their games at home, not fair at all. Surely this is going to be an issue with the Super 8's as well, for example very few county grounds could cater for the kind of crowd that Dublin would draw. I think they should move the Monaghan v Leitrim game to Croke Park instead. I'm sure the Leitrim lads would love the opportunity to play in Croke Park. Its not like it would give a big advantage to Monaghan. We don't exactly have a great record in Croke Park for championship matches. Newbridge holds far more than 6000. And it's not our fault, or problem, if your county sells far more season tickets than quite a few grounds around the country can hold. €6m is being spent in St.Conleth's in the near future but in the meantime it's our ground, our home game, and no way should we move to accommodate either Mayo or the GAA. The rule was whoever came out first got the home game, no provisos. Now the GAA should be made stick to their own rules. Hope Kildare stand their ground on this one. Throughout the championship we are treated to the spectacle of teams playing in what appear to be empty grounds as most of our grounds are too big and are full once in a blue moon. Typical GAA, re-active rather than pro-active! If they think Newbridge is not fit for purpose, say it before the qualifiers even start and fix Kildare's home games in a alternative venue, not wait until Kildare draw one of the so called big guns at home, and then take home advantage off them at the last minute! As for Cavan if there venue is under construction, then they should have had a alternative arrangement in place should they be drawn at home i.e. Clones or Athletic Grounds. This smacks of the GAA thinking about money, get a big crowd into Croke Park as Tyrone, Cavan, Mayo and Kildare always travel in big numbers! The draw for the qualifiers also seem fairly fishy at the minute! They seem almost desperate to get all Division 1 teams to the super 8's and make sure no one else outside that gets in! Really hope Kildare don't back down. Home game is a home game. Laois got screwed travelling to nowlan park in 2016. We should never have played the game . Soccer is a professional sport and yet The season before last arsenal were away to Sutton in the cup. Got about 500 tickets for 50000 season ticket holders. Home draw is a home draw. End of story.
