Change Of Management?

Kerry, Kildare just appointed new men, Galway hurlers yet to do so. Plenty of time for new management, up to 6 month before we kick a competitive ball, panel will not change a whole lot either way. No doubt clubs will back him, just have to look back to 2010/12
to see the ABC mentality of some clubs"
Explain how he attempted to force the issue?? By giving players training programmes??. That's just common sense or else players would have been months behind other teams no matter who was going to be in charge. Stop making s**t up again

Why would Andy want to stay on where the executive are not fully behind him. It would be very difficult for the man to go into Dunganny or Navan a few times a week and be looking at lads standing around only mad for him to fail with the knives at eh ready . Let face it he wont be short of offers if he does walk.

Why is now not a good time to change. Our record over the last few years has been sketchy to say the least. 5 years is reasonable amount of time to be showing some progress but are we any better. We are barely a top 10 team.

What are the alternatives to Andy. I believe an internal manager is a definite and he will need to be appointed for at least 3 years with possible extension depending on the progress of the team. Is it time for Colm O'Rourke to back himself as he isn't getting younger and I would assume he would want a shot before its too late. Who else is there.

A little bit off topic, but I fear still relevant today. Eamonn O Brien, got caught in a Power play post Louth Leinster Final disaster of 2010 . At the time there was a total lack of leadership by the Executive of CB & Chairman, where is their wisdom initially, they said decision for a replay was "up to the Players & Management" ...throwing them nicely under the Bus.....Subsequently...it was portrayed/seen that Eamonn was Incumbent Chairman' Pick that year...and then Opposing Candidate represented change From the disaster of the fallout of that leinster Final debacle...So in getting rid of Chairman....Eamonn was thrown out with the waste water....not the first & wont be the last time that good people involved become collateral damage to internal powerplays at CB....and again , like McEntee or not ….there is turmoil as usual down in Navan

Well that's a load of rubbish. None of them will leave because he is gotten rid of. They're not there for him They're there for themselves. Isn't it strange that not one player has come out in support of him. The silence is defening.

Good enough assessment although Barney still held on and was still in the chair two years later in 2012. So maybe slightly out there as he didn't fall along with EOB

Don't listen to this nonsense, most of the players on the panel are still involved with their clubs training 3 times a week at least. So where would they get time to be doing this extra training. His loyal band of supporters on here night and day singing his praises. He has failed miserably. Time to cut him loose and move on. To hear people say that success is getting to div1 well we're in div2 and failed to get promotion so time for a fresh approach

Countrywide, thats a big statement, doubt there will be much demand for his service, espically at county level. Look at CV ( not even taking his antics into account) over last few years and I doubt he would get an interview not to mind a job. Stats. read average from start to present.

I think tonight's vote could become irrelevant in my opinion. A huge dent has been put in the trust between management and the county board, the people who are supposed to be supporting him! We may be looking for a new management team regardless of the vote.

correct...Barney survived & Eamonn fell...so all in all...exact opposite to what one would have needed for the county, but fact remains that Eamonn was fall guy to CBs handling of the whole affair .

He was fully aware of review and the ratification process that was due to take place, yet he went public (media) with his new backroom team, trying to force CB to once again do the wrong thing and rubber stamp another year. Fair enough get things sorted but have the respect to keep in inhouse. This making things up arguement is just childish.

Expect a close enough vote, but clubs to keep him there for another year.

It really isn't strange at all. Players will very very rarely come out publicly back a manager in situations like this for obvious reasons. Andy has the full backing of the majority of the panel . I expect the clubs to see sense tonight and back him also.

This definitely won't happen. If the clubs vote to keep Andy tonight he will 100% be manager next year

The Kerry players sent a letter of support to the county board in support of Peter Keane. The Meath players have not.

That worked out well for him!!! The majority of the Meath panel are fully behind the current management.

Do you know for a fact they havent? I'd expect the statements read out before tonights vote will contradict your comment

Also the Kerry players did not do that. Peter Keane claimed he had the support of the players but there was very little to back up the claim

I'm really not sure how tonight will go, some will have an axe to grind with Andy and will vote with the county board, other will have the axe to grind with the county board and will retain Andy. Its what way the numbers fall.

I think someone made the point well, even if he's voted back in Andy might decide to say F*** it and leave anyways. Not trying to claim any inside information there but its very obvious the man has his pride and that will have taken a battering. Lets not forget that Banty was retained after a vote of no confidence in 2012 and still departed after the championship.

Long term Andy isn't the man but it's too late in the day to start looking for a new manager now for 2022 IMHO.

Ultimately i think we need to start planning now for who is going to succeed Andy and have that in place. That whomever the successor is they are in place and ready to roll once our 2022 season is over they have a chance to look at the 2022 club championships, assess the playing squad and what they need starting out in 2022.

We've made great strides at underage with McCarthy and O'Bric but there's no guarantee they'd carry that over to senior football, look at Peter Keane.

I don't think we've an internal candidate who's ready made to replace Andy but lets not forget he wasn't coaching in the county when he took over so lets not limit ourselves to just managers within Meath. There's some great managers i.e Malachy O'Rourke who are not currently involved in inter county management that would add something new. John Evans was previously involved under Banty and is a mine of great information. Jason Ryan is not involved with anyone that i know off. I've mentioned several coaches from Dublin who won't get the Dublin job so why ask would they consider the Meath job. Anyone saying D'arcy, Jayo, Deegan, Clarke or Curran shouldn't be considered because their Dub's is being closed off and small minded. Its attitudes like that which have held Meath back for years. We need to move beyond that attitude. The top counties are there for a reason, they have a professional outlook in how they operate, what they do and what they want from their senior team. We need to do the same and stop acting as a group that loves to grind an axe in public....

County board has 8-10 months to reach out to all of these and other potential candidates and have preliminary discussions with these types of people, what they propose for the senior team, what they need for their vision, what their vision is for how we'll play (we don't have one anymore) and how they as a county board can accommodate that. They've made the injections with the underage set up but the flag ship is still the senior team. That's where all those players are being groomed for and a new manager will need to work with the new director of player development (or whatever the title is) to get the players through that they want. It needs to be a 5-10 year plan to get us back to where most of us feel we belong.

I don't know why anyone pays any heed to lakells25 - lie after lie to fit his embarrassing agenda, should be completely ignored.

Hopefully the clubs do the right thing tonight so we don't wake up tomorrow being the laughing stock of the country and 2022 being a write off. We can then ask serious questions on the executive and the ****show they caused another day.
