Congrats to the Tones, very consistent all year and got results in the tight games. thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 1073 - 07/11/2021 20:32:08 2388677 Link 0 |
Kind of put into perspective the question many asked to his dropping off Meath panel in mod first year. It didn't make sense then. He could have went on for another couple of years at least.

Congrats to the neighbours on a well earned win, I always felt dunboyne were way over hyped this year, they were tested in 2 real games, yesterday was one and the feis cup semi final was the other. They lost both. Not to take anything away from the tones but just to have a pop at their biggest supporter on here who after simonstown won 2 in a row came on to these pages criticising everything about them and saying it showed how bad meath football was. Ironic now that the year his own club wins it and I think most will agree here has been the most average senior championship in a long long time Northsidegaels (Meath) - Posts: 241 - 08/11/2021 08:40:54 2388704 Link 1 |
Well done to the Tones. Deserved winners better team on the day. Cian Ward is a gem of a player and he's matured so much since he played with Meath. His all around work rate and calming influence by getting on the ball was so good and he deserves his 2nd Keegan. Also the best I've seen Thomas O'Reilly play and young guys like Saran and Oisin Martin have made huge improvements. Gutted for our lads but hopefully we'll be back. Further proof that you never know with this championship. Tones were probably 6th or 7th favourite at the start of the year in a 16 team competition LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 1523 - 08/11/2021 09:07:13 2388708 Link 8 |
I See half the Meath football panel lost to a club team from north meath yesterday, Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 640 - 08/11/2021 09:28:32 2388710 Link 5 |

Congrats to Tones. I don't think they were even in the picture when people were talking about potential champions before the start of the season. They were drawn in the toughest group and weren't favourites in any of their knockout games so they won it in the toughest possible way in my view (beating all the champions from 2016 to 2020 along the way). Well done too Tones well deserved but I woudnt be too critical of dunboyne, Cathal finn was dunboynes best player by a mile in the semi final, he pulled his hamstring during the week and only played a half yesterday. Ronan Jones played basically played on 1 leg. They will be back as strong next year. redser123 (Meath) - Posts: 404 - 08/11/2021 11:23:23 2388735 Link 3 |
Well done to the Tones, very well drilled, every player knew their role and give absolutely everything. Deserved to win. Dunboyne played like robots, basic skills very poor, looked like they hadn't met each other before the game yesterday. Very poor discipline, with a good few cheap head high tackles. they played exactly the way the Tones would have wanted them to, baffling stuff. Their line made some very strange decisions. Seems liked there are certain players who no matter what cannot be substituted. You would do well to identify any of their players as county players, let alone 6!!! longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 330 - 08/11/2021 11:26:40 2388736 Link 6 |
Well , the burning of " the sticks " did come from only one quarter .........Least we forget . But legends are allowed their comments ... And that's why they are legends , they are historic , and not present ....

McEntee's didn't make any impact ..say it as it is ..... At all .... Our County Captain can't kick with his right foot apparently . But he's good from propaganda purposes .....

Last time Meath played i seem to remember everyone lauding shane mcentee for his performance against Dublin, now he gets to the County final with his Club doesnt have a great game and you comment this rubbish. David has never played for Meath seniors why does he get brought into this? load of ****.

Simonstown had a lot of injuries at the start of the championship. They had pretty much a full team against Tones in the Feis Cup final and bet them handy enough.

Don't think anyone was lauding him and claiming he'd a great game. He put in a huge hit and fair play to him but I think everyone is claiming he's a limited footballer who's bearing the brunt of people's frustrations with his father being manager and naming him as captain last year. It wasn't a clever move by Andy to do that. There were lads like Harnan, Lavin, McGill and Cillian he could've named as captain, but he chose his own son and he was always going to hammered for that. Even if Shane had an all star season, some still would've claimed he shouldn't have been on the field. The startling thing for me is that for Dunboyne he plays as wing half back, but in a meath jersey he's at CHB or midfield which makes no sense at all. If you can't play in a central position for your club how are you playing centrally for your county. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 08/11/2021 15:24:24 2388789 Link 11 |
Shane Mc actually played a good bit of the game at midfield yesterday. I think Conor O Donoghue liked to use him at wing back so they can isolate a weak wing forward and have Shane drive forward. That wasn't going to work yesterday as he would have at to pick up Thomas O Reilly or Stephen Sheppard

If they can keep injury free next year and stick together they will be right in the mix. We were able to compete in all championship games played this year except them in quarter final of relegation. thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 1073 - 08/11/2021 17:41:47 2388807 Link 0 |
Well done Wolfe Tones. Commiserations to Dunboyne on losing a final…weren't the first and won't be the last, 14 others had been eliminated before yesterday. Also please desist from kicking a particular person when he's probably feeling a bit down. All are volunteers. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 1080 - 08/11/2021 18:22:18 2388810 Link 0 |
