Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "Just saying that need to account for the tight field, heavy underfoot conditions (ball wouldn't even bounce along the sidelines), gale force wind, and an inexperienced team away against a team who beat us in July, it was plenty of good to take out of it. It's January and we started with a win which we rarely do. We can take a lot more positives out of this"
Understand completely…. Winning early league games is what it's all about …. I would never have thought Mullingar pitch would be considered small or tight as they play inter county hurling there also but underfoot conditions were heavy… A very important win but bigger challenges lie ahead in this division…

It's very tight with Dunnes stores right beside it

It's not rocket science, play or best players and we'll do alright. We had 6 really good players in the backs for us on Sunday, none of this nonsense trying to create a position for a certain player. Glad Micky is picking players on merit.

Conor Sweeney is out for Tipp with a cruciate injury. That's absolutely rotten for the poor fella, he's a quality player. It'll be a year out minimum, and like what we saw with Holla Brady, it could be 2025 until he's back to anything like he was before. Huge loss for them, their captain and main scorer.

It's leaving Tipp with not much at all. Quinlivan has opted out, O'Riordan hasn't been back since 2020, Russell injured (he scored those couple of worldie points against us in the League final last year), Robbie Kiely has retired. They've only got 8 of the 20 who played the Munster 2020 final available, and 2 of those are injured right now.

It's unfortunate for them the top players they are missing, but should mean our lads need to push on and get the win here. They've a better record against us at Breffni the last few years, so need to get back here.

All excellent players. They still have some quality in Jack Kennedy , Stephen O Brien but they are huge losses.
Teddy Doyle looked decent last year, from Kerry orginally

Yeah they still do alright, but will be tough to replace all those lads with that quality missing. I should see us getting through this though. 4 points with a weeks break after, and then able to welcome more lads back in 2 weeks time against Longford would see us sitting very nicely. No need to risk someone just back from injury kinda thing

Agreed here. It's what needs to happen. We're a bit quick to have lads owning jersey numbers. But if a young fella comes in and does well, then the other needs to fight back for that place and not have it handed back. It's creates competition in the camp, kicks up the behind for the longer serving lads to push again and not stand still where they were. It can only be a good thing. We're slow sometimes to change, and yearly you do need new blood injected in

Russell came on the last day and scored a couple of points ! so we need to watch him ! he was ripping it up in Croker before he hobbled off injured in the league final !

He was on one leg that day I recall too. His knee was wrapped up and was only meant to last a half. But jeez, those points. He glided them over from near the sideline. He couldn't miss. Great player, so will need watching if he comes on

Good 2 points last week. Mullingar always a nice place to go to watch a league game. Half back line were brilliant. T Madden a brilliant prospect at still only 20 years of age. Our forward line never really clicked. Too many straight balls, not enough angled runs and in general our forwards look hesitant. Westmeath looked very flat and were missing key players. Although Luke Loughlin was electric when he came on.

Looking forward to Sunday. Hopefully we get some more players back. Tipp produce a lot of classy footballers but are missing so many. We should have more than enough to win this. Cavan by 5

Any team news? Conor Brady out I assume it'll be Enda Maguire straight in for him. Don't expect any other changes unless Gerry Smith or Paddy Lynch are fit to start. Back 7 can't be changed after a good showing last week and apart from Killian Brady I'm not sure we even have anyone to come back in in defence anyway.

Nothing out yet. Heard Graham on the pod say Conor Brady will be out for up to 5 weeks, while they'll hold back on McKiernan and James Smith for this week even though they're training. Gunner might come back in though which would be good. Paddy Lynch looks to have a ways to go yet to get to full fitness, based on his cameo last Sunday. So they'll likely only bring him on again. Hope Gerry is fit, he is missed when not there.

Saw the team. As you were from the team that started last week except Ryan Donohoe replacing Conor Brady. Gerry Smith to the bench, and Gunner there too.

Tipperary have a good record against Cavan especially In Breffni so a degree of caution should be observed… Having said that they are a shadow of their former selves player wise and we should win this with a bit to spare… Hopefully we can nab a goal or two… Cavan by 6+…

David Brady started instead of Ryan Donohoe, and Jonny McCabe instead of Jayo McLoughlin. Poor start when they went 1-2 to 0-1, but all us since then. McVeety is just unreal. Ryan O'Neill great too, and Oisin Brady good from frees. 6 point lead at half time, and well worth it with the dominance we had from the 10th minute onwards. Need to keep it up now

Ultimately a very easy win. Took a wee while to get going again 2nd half, but we got motoring and saw this off easily. Niall Carolan had a very strong half, linking up well, getting a point, and should have got a penalty. Fair few goal chances that half too, but when cruising took the points instead. Hugely impressive though, but have to say Tipp bar Kennedy offered little. Great to go into the week break with 4 points, and still lads to come back. Lynch too who is getting his fitness up, and got a point as well.

Great win and nice to see us put up a good score line as well…. A break next weekend before what looks like a winnable home game v Longford… It's a local derby and Longford will be up for this big time after a poor start to the campaign… If only we had Dara McVitty for that Taltainn Cup Final last season… Ah well..!!
