Waterford's senior hurling panel are organising a fundraiser at the Faithlegg Golf Club on Saturday to help finance a training camp in Portugal in early April.
Derek McGrath and his players will fine tune their preparations for their Munster SHC campaign in the Algarve and this weekend's fundraiser is designed to help meet the costs of the trip.
The Irish Examiner reports that monies from GPA grants will also go towards footing the bill.
Club delegates were informed of the plans at a meeting this week and they were also told by secretary Timmy O'Keeffe that the county's current debt stands at approximately €490,000.
The County Board is set to have a €600,000 bank loan approved next week which will see it start a seven-year programme to that debt.
Chairman Tom Cunningham voiced his disappointment at the lack of support for a fundraising table quiz that was held last Thursday night.
"It was disappointing; it got a very poor response. We will have to cut back somewhere on account of this."
