David and Paudie Clifford’s hopes of crowning an unforgettable year ended in disappointment yesterday when their club Fossa lost their second Kerry IFC final in three years.

Instead, fellow All-Ireland winner Brian Ó Beaglaoich was the star of the show with a huge haul of 0-9 from wing back, including four two-pointers, as An Ghaeltacht ran out impressive 0-19 to 1-11 winners at Austin Stack Park to seal their return to the senior ranks.

Eanna Ó Conchuir and former Cork dual star Aidan Walsh also impressed for the West Kerry side who led by 0-11 to 1-3 at the break after playing with the wind. The Fossa goal came directly from an Emmett O’Shea free in the 26th minute.

With Franz Sauerland keeping a tight rein on David Clifford and Aodhna Ó Beaglaoich holding Paudie scoreless, Fossa couldn’t get any closer than four points in the second half as An Gaeltacht booked their ticket back to the top flight for the first time since 2018.
