Down football kingpins Kilcoo are on the lookout for a new manager after Karl Lacey stepped down.

The 2012 Donegal All-Ireland winning centre back guided the Magpies to back-to-back Down SFC titles during his two-year tenure. Last year’s Frank O’Hare Cup triumph was their sixth on the trot and 12th in 13 years.

The 2022 All-Ireland champions went on to reach the Ulster final, but were pipped at the post by Errigal Ciarán. They were also edged out at the quarter-final stage by Scotstown – who they comfortably defeated in last year’s semi-final – in 2023.

Lacey’s departure comes as no surprise after his assistant and fellow Four Masters clubman Barry Dunnion recently left to take the reins of his home club.
