Glen remain on course for a four-in-a-row of Derry SFC titles after Jody McDermott’s last-gasp fisted goal handed the All-Ireland club champions a 1-9 to 0-9 victory over Slaughtneil in the second of the semi-finals.

With Christopher Bradley, Shane McGuigan and Brendan Rogers on target, the Emmets took a 0-5 to 0-3 lead into the break at Owenbeg before they were overhauled in the third quarter by scores from Danny Tallon and Conor Glass. Slaughtneil fought back and reduced the deficit to the minimum through Padraig Cassidy before McDermott fisted a Eunan Muholland centre to the net in the final minute of normal time.

Substitute Sé McGuigan replied with a point, but it was a case of too little, too late for Slaughtneil as Malachy O’Rourke’s men qualified for the decider against Newbridge at Celtic Park on October 27.
