Old rivals Scotstown and Clontibret will face off in the Monaghan SFC final after accounting for Inniskeen and Ballybay in their respective semi-finals at Clones.

Scotstown qualified for their 12th successive final thanks to a 0-14 to 0-12 victory over Inniskeen in a repeat of last year’s decider, having trailed just once in the early stages. With Jack McCarron, Shane Carey and Conor McCarthy in fine scoring form, the winners led by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break before points from Ciaran McNulty and Anthony Meegan (two) reduced the margin to the minimum after the restart.

But Inniskeen couldn’t regain parity as scores from Kieran Hughes, Rory Beggan (two frees), Francis Maguire, McCarthy, Damien McArdle and Michael McCarville keep Scotstown’s noses in front 'til the end.

In the other last-four tie, Conor McManus returned from injury as Clontibret edged out Ballybay 0-14 to 1-9.

Christoper McGuinness’ fourth-minute goal from a penalty helped Pearse Brothers to a 1-5 to 0-7 half-time lead, but they fell away in the closing stages when Brian Greenan, Darren McDermott and McManus (two frees) kicked unanswered points for the Saffrons.
