Michael Foley shows his delight as Gaeil Colmcille defeat Clann Na nGael in the SHC relegation decider at Kildalkey
Meath are a county renowned for their brilliant comebacks and fighting spirit and the same can be said about the club scene. We have four main contenders for this one.

The first we already touched on in the "Best display in a ladies final" - Clann Na nGael clawed back a massive ten point Oldcastle lead in the final seven minutes to bring the Meath ladies IFC final to a replay at Carlanstown.

In the IFC final at Pairc Tailteann Moynalvey got the better of Gaeil Colmcille by two points 0-15 to 1-10 to win the title they last won in 1983. It did not look good for Alan Kelly's charges twenty minutes into the game as Kells led 1-7 to 0-4. But Moynalvey stuck to their game plan and David Donoghue kicked a point to level the match with ten minutes remaining. Further points from Cillian O'Sullivan and James Kelly completed a brilliant comeback.

In the SHC semi-final Navan O'Mahony's upset the odds by beating Kiltale 1-12 to 1-11 and claim a place in the final for the first time since 1986. O'Mahony's trailed by five points 1-11 to 0-9 after 54 minutes but points from Paddy Skehan (2), a David Quirke goal and a winning point from David Murtagh gave the Navan men a stunning late victory.

Our award goes to the hurlers of Gaeil Colmcille. On a dirty wet and windy day at Kildalkey the Kells men came from six points down to win by two and retain their senior status at the expense of Clann Na nGael. The Athboy based side led 0-7 to 0-4 at half time and by the 20th minute of the second half their lead was out to 0-11 to 0-5. All of a sudden Gaeil Colmcille came to life and points from Conor Murray, John Morris, Niall Flanagan, and Tommy Shine (3) had the game level. Shine and Seamus Mattimoe added the insurance points and Gaeil Colmcille survived 0-13 to 0-11.

Tomorrow we pick our best minor footballer for the year.
