Nearly 30,000 in Croke Park yesterday. The GAA needs to think long and hard before changing a winning formula. If it isn't broken? mediaman (Antrim) - Posts: 355 - 18/03/2015 10:49:21 1704041 Link 0 |
1,700 in Newbridge Sunday for Kildare vs Roscommon. Worrying to see such low numbers, Kildare football back to pre-micko times. ShortGrass_1 (Kildare) - Posts: 223 - 18/03/2015 10:58:40 1704048 Link 0 |
Worrying indeed . Kildare have always been a well supported county and bring an atmosphere anywhere they go but that attendance is a definite a low considering all the size and population of that county . I recall when Pat Fitzerald and even before him when Courtney was in charge they did suffer from a sparse following but this is more than worrying . If you lose in Kildare you're the worst team in the world and if you get a winning streak going the bandwagon will be in full flow. But such low numbers and third tier football for the first time in many a year on the horizon, its worrying times. On a sidenote, great crowd for the Mayo & Dubs game Saturday last, 13,000 would be a championship attendance! ShortGrass_1 (Kildare) - Posts: 223 - 18/03/2015 15:39:55 1704184 Link 0 |
There were 18 Cork supporters in Tyrone last Sunday and we are top of Division 1. With those numbers Kildare have nothing to worry about. There was a big crowd at Cork v Kerry. The next day against Mayo, there will be 1500 I would guess and a 1,000 of those will be from Mayo. There will be massive crowd in Killarney for the Munster championship if we meet Kerry (seems likely) and again if we get to an All-Ireland final. Other than that, any other championship match we would be lucky if there were 1,000 in attendance. GAA fans here are apathetic to what the footballers do. Its a pity but as long as the hurlers show some signs of being able to compete (and possibly even if they don't) the crowds will follow them instead. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 18/03/2015 17:35:33 1704229 Link 0 |

Terrible crowd for Cork V Tipp seeing as if they both were to meet in the All Ireland Final there would be 82,000 seems that GAA is the biggest bandwagon sport tinrylandman (Carlow) - Posts: 387 - 23/03/2015 12:26:03 1705570 Link 0 |
