I'm in very pessimistic form this week - Compromise Rules is a waste of time. Any players who have an interest in winning an all ireland next year shouldn't go near it.

Indigenous Irish side is a great idea , to Qualify
A. Shocking red hair
B. Whiter complexion than your average ghost
C Freckles larger than your normal Fyfe banana
D Accent thicker than Stalins eyebrows

Now where to find guys like that ?

I remember going to Pearce Stadium to watch it. Salthill was buzzing! It was as if the occasion got to the place though. There were half dozen streaks/ pitch invasions and not a single ball was returned from the crowd!

Vaguely remember one of the Ozzies being arrested in town later that night?

Yeah I remember that well. All of the Aussies and a good few of the Irish lads came into a bar I worked in the day after. They went stone mad on the sauce.

My abiding memory of the days is big Barry Hall landing up to the bar and saying, "15 Jaeger-Bombs champ!"

I went for a look at one of the sessions. There were 26 togged out. Some faces I didn't know, but definitely there were O'Shea, McLoughlin (Mayo) O'Rourke (Meath) only keeper togged out, McBrearty, Murphy (Donegal), Mackey (Cavan), McCarthy, McCaffrey, Kilkenny (Dublin), Conroy, Hanley (Galway), Doyle, O'Connor (Kildare), McKeever (Armagh).

Complete rubbish. Just another junket every 4 years. Its amazing that the GAA seems to place such stock in this 'sport', when they have completely neglected the Railway cups. Reminds me of the Lions Tours. Another excuse to sell to sponsors and pretend that we have some kind of rivalry with the Aussies.
As for the all indiginous teams being sent over its degrading to them that they are being singled out as different. Are they not as australian as any other footy players?
Its going to look neanderthal on the pitch. All white Ireland vs All Indiginous Australia. A complete PR disaster for both sides. GAA should have nothing to do with it.

Isnt a junket
Railway Cups fell into the situation it did because of a variety of issues.
This is nothing like the Lions tour and certainly is not a fake rivalry of any kind.
That Australia are only using indigenous players is not degrading. It is highlighting their role in the AFL and promoting them. Certainly not a PR disaster.

in fairness i think the aussies are afraid of getting another hammering like two years ago.
i seen the attendances from 2000-2011 for austrlian home matches and it went from 100 thousand down to 12 thousand at the last one.
so the aussie public dont seem to want to go to it anymore so it looks like the aussies are sending this mixed up team over for two reasons
1 afraid of getting a hammering like last time
2 they know there public arent attending so want ireland to be the ones to pull the plug on the series to save face

Maybe, maybe not, why take the chance? They're on tickets.ie and are cheap enough. Take it from a Cavan man ;)

Agreed. Complete rubbish. We have no rivalry with them at all and the Aussie public doesn't give a toss about it (not the ones that I have met in AFL dominated Adelaide at least). The GAA should invest more in the Railway Cup then this crap if they are looking to give players some extra honour. That is my opinion at least.
