There is a huge cohort of gaa supporters out there who would struggle to give the Dubs any credit even if they played every game away. There is a big Dublin/Rural divide and gaelic football supporters are not immune to it. sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 1003 - 11/08/2025 11:44:13 2631060 Link 2 |
I've always thought the Dubs were willing to travel, ever since the 1983 semi V Cork, a cracker of a game. To be fair to the Dubs, a lot of the reason they're in Croker so often is to try and fill it. When they go on the road it is always entertainment.

I thought Dublin got fair acknowledgement for the result against Mayo in 2024 and v Galway in 2025.

Dublin fans travel a lot more than some other county fans to be fair. Now maybe that's partially to do with the fact they don't really play mang games outside of Dublin, so the novelty factor is there for fans when it comes to travelling.

The frustration for some Kerry supporters probably boils down to a perceived not earning the respect of counties who are striving to win the All Ireland without the advantage of playing in a Hurling Province for over 100 years.

Not of all us feel that way, personally I don't mind, I think it makes sense when considering the massive Dublin GAA following, which brings in massive funding for the association. That great Jim Gavin team could play anywhere and still demolish any team they came up against, they were an unbelievable team, best I have ever seen by a long shot. Kerry have won provincial titles playing all rounds in the backyard of their opponents. Kerry are all for fixture venue fairness.

Easier for dubs fans to travel to games as well on public transport due to capital city and most areas having buses even direct buses from Dublin to there. Not same for people on other counties

There have been two all Munster All Ireland finals. Tipperary made the All Ireland semi finals in 2016 and 2020. Since the qualifier era - 5 of the 6 Munster counties have made the All Ireland quarter finals at least. In the first year of the Tailteann Cup - 4 of the 6 Munster counties were in the All Ireland 16. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9118 - 11/08/2025 22:51:23 2631245 Link 0 |

5 of 6 Munster counties qualifying for the All Ireland football quarter finals confirms Munster as the only dual code province. If you want to avoid balanced conversation, that's your choice. Croke Park has been Dublin's home league ground since 2011. Home league ground advantage is an advantage at the business end of the championship. The same applies to Meath next year. It might take Meath 2 or 3 games to be comfortable with their temporary home league ground. Meath can't have any excuses if they make the Leinster final. If Meath are genuine All Ireland contenders, they'll have temporary home league ground advantage at the business end of the championship. In the interest of balanced conversation - Dublin's results in Roscommon and Salthill in recent years have to be acknowledged. LOL! Nothing beats being properly road tested. The Armagh and Tyrone tussles were great. 5 out of 6 Munster counties have qualified for the All Ireland football quarter finals. Some province for one province! CA!

And once again there's no denying Kerry have advantages for over 100 years playing in a 6 County Hurling Province.
