Brilliant display from Burns. What a breath of fresh air.

He's a bit much making things political. I know hes a big SF supporter but bringing immigration into things is not needed. The last man was from New York and he didn't make a song and dance about countries accepting immigrants. Stick to the game

As a former immigrant,I don't read anything political into his speech. I remember listening to finals via phone line with Michael Ó Muireaheartaigh calling them, and Jarlath's words were appreciated today.

I would have to disagree with you there Mick but having said that, there's nothing wrong whatsoever with being a SF supporter……

Well I saw an interview with him a few years ago and while he gave the impression he was more into fairness than nationalism. He said he came from a nationalist family but was totally anti voilence and said he had no interest in the IRA or their ways. Also he has spoken for the inclusivness of unionists etc and actually touted the idea of not playing the national anthem before big games as it might turn unionists off.

I remember him on about not playing the National anthem but I would imagine that would go down like a lead balloon and he definitely wouldn't like to be reminded of that gaff… I think to most knowledgeable people and I include you in that Mick there is a huge difference now in SF and the violence associated with the IRA back in the day… Some people have not got the intelligence still to be able to see the difference between the two…..but he certainly would…!

What about the IRA of the 19 teens? Was there violence associated with them or was it just the IRA from 1960 on that were violent? You don't need intelligence to see there was no difference.

Hopefully the violent days are behind us, but you are correct, there is no difference. A bullet in the head in 1919 had the same result as a bullet in the head in 1989. Jarlath is a uniter of communties and he certainly isn't promoting any political manifesto. There are dumbos on these forums who want to preach nothing but negativity, on all GAA matters. The day may come when the now so called unionists and loyalists will be part of our Association, but that can only happen with the brave leadership of men like Jarlath Burns. Our values are precious but compromise may be needed. At least on Sunday the Orangemen will have the lions share of Croke Park but Jarlath may have to compromise by keeping his feelings to himself. Our Association and games are in safe hands and like last Sunday I expect the football final to be the crescendo that the Championship has been steadily moving towards since April.

I think myself the football final will be a dud. But hopefully Galway can shade it.

The beauty of forums are differences of opinion. And there are many negative things in GAAland like everywhere else, namely how poor the standard of football has become as an entertainment spectacle. That needs urgent addressing. There are many good things too of course.

Well that's it done and dusted.

Armagh the worthy Champions 2024, you'd have got got good money on that before a ball was kicked. Beating Kerry and Galway and were every bit on par with Donegal in Ulster but huge credit to them, they did what Donegal weren't good enough to do on the day, beat Galway in Croke Park.

It'll be interesting to see what's what in 2025, very difficult for a small county like Armagh to put in back to backs, but not impossible.. just unlikely.

But I think there's every chance of it being another very open championship.

This Armagh win should act as a real kick up the arse for a few counties that are currently greatly underachieving and find thrnsekves to be not even competitive..

Pretty incredible what Armagh did today, but it just goes to show what can be done.

We were at 40 % in Connacht with our toughest game been the Sligo one followed by London..
Great the lads are gearing up for another All Ireland tilt.."
What % were they at today? If not 100% then some questioning needs to be done on the mindset of players and management. Beat Dublin then lost to a division 2 team. Bottlers? Chokers?

It really opens it up alright.

Cant see Armagh doing back 2 back to be honest. But what a victory for them yesterday.

I personally would like to see Galway win an All Ireland, especially for the likes of Conroy.
Hopefully lack of injuries will make them stronger next year.
Keep Conroy out of the League imo.

Donegal will be stronger next year, and Derry will be back.

Interesting that Ulster male teams nearly had a clean sweep this year:-
All Ireland Senior
All Ireland U20
All Ireland Minor
Tailteann Cup
National League Div 1
National League Div 2
All Ireland Senior Club
All Ireland Intermediate Club
All Ireland Junior Club
Sigerson Cup
Hogan Cup

I see Top Scorer from play in the Championship was Con O'Callaghan with 4-11
Paul Conroy an amazing 2nd with Turbitt in 3rd place.
Followed by Finnerty, Gallen, O'Donoghue, Lennon, Murtagh and Cormac Costello.

Overall Top scorer was Ryan O'Donnoghue with 3-48.
2nd was Sam Mulroy with 3-43, then Gallen, and Rob Finnerty.

You can see how much of a loss Finnerty was to Galway yesterday based on his stats this year,

Congrats to Con.. Dubs just fell short this year

They are every bit as good as the top teams, they are still a top team.

Just didn't have it in them this year, it'll be interesting to see when a few lads eventually call time in the months ahead, how that changes the dynamic of the current panel.

Now its the time for the younger lads to really push things forward, become the new marshalls but it's not going to be easy,

I think the 2023 win was definitely a very draining one, physically and emotionally.

Let's see what 2025 brings

Congratulations to Armagh, an amazing achievement, I don't think anyone was tipping them at the start of they year to win the All-Ireland. Armagh weren't even at their best yesterday so there is more to come from this team in the next few years. The have a relatively young squad apart from the amazing Stefan Campbell and Aidan Forker. They showed real grit yesterday. Enjoy the celebrations.

Hard luck to Galway, they have had a great championship but just fell short yesterday. they have a strong panel and will be back next year. They seem to be carrying a few injured players, Shane Walsh just doesn't look right. What will hurt most is that the game was there for them as Armagh weren't at their best either.

The game itself started well, the first 10 minutes were very good. However like most games this year, it became very attritional. Is one of the issues that too many games are crammed into a short time period and the resultant spectacle is not what it would be otherwise? It is just so difficult for the full forward to function in modern day football, nearly every player is struggling in that line. For example, what more could Damien Comer have done yesterday? He didn't get a ball kicked into him. I'm not sure what the answer is but such a shame to see these talented forwards struggling to get a touch of the ball.

I agree - there was a massive effort put into that win in 2023.
Physically and emotionally.

Looked drained this year at times.

We will regress a bit now though.

Yes, there won't be anymore dominating that's for sure, even a back to back is unlikely in what's left of this decade.

But Armagh proved that winning is very possible.

If Armagh can do it, that current Dublin panel can definitely still do the business, even if a few of the older lads call it, there's still the panel there to compete and win.

Still a few seasons left in them
