I am hoping for 2 good games this weekend I do think like most games both will be cagey in the first half, Armagh v Kerry, I think Armagh can target the middle third as they have alot of players capable of winning kick outs, so I'd like to see them push up on kick outs but I don't think they will, I think Kerry have 3 of the best forwards in the country in the 2 cliffords and O'Shea but think Armagh have more forwards than Kerry besides them 3 and Armagh have a great bench. I hope Armagh don't show too much respect but I can only see a kerry win by 1 or 2, Armagh haven't lost by more than 1 score since Donegal Ulster in 2022 so can't see a hammering, Liftball (Armagh) - Posts: 22 - 12/07/2024 12:23:31 2558539 Link 0 |
Plenty of teams with good players have dropped away over the years. Look where Down are now. Kildare too. Even Cork have had great talent in their squad and fallen away. Derry fell to Division 4. We were heading through the trap door to Division 3 football. When Jim left in 2014 we were still considering ourselves in the top 4-5 teams in the country for the next 5 years without achieving the right. Gallagher and Bonner knocked on the door but never made a semi final in those ten years. Suddenly we were no longer in the top 4-5 teams in Ulster anymore. Derry and Armagh had overtaken us, Tyrone were still ahead of us and Monaghan had our number bar that shock win in 2022. Down beat us decisively last year and Cavan looked on a better trajectory. Yes he had the raw ingredients. So did Galway for years without achieving anything. Frankly the body of work he did in the first spell is what kept us up competing for so long but that tank had run empty. He deserves more column inches and if he does beat Galway and Armagh in the final, will deserve every merit and accolade he can get. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 286 - 12/07/2024 12:28:57 2558541 Link 0 |
I'd imagine Monaghan were favourites with the bookmakers going into that game based on form but after watching the second half down in Ennis and the performance put in against Derry despite the result, I was fairly confident that day they were well able to beat Monaghan even with all the injuries and absences. I'm probably a glass half full person but I was also never of the opinion that this team was destined for tailteann cup or a slide down the divisions. That said, what Jim has done in such a short space of time has been beyond even my optimistic expectations.

Derry last time out and Armagh next. Great to be involved in games against difficult opponents with everything on the line. Kerry can be confident but so can Armagh. Armagh have the weapons to cause problems. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8284 - 12/07/2024 13:20:25 2558558 Link 0 |

Absolutely delighted for Armagh. Took every chance they were given and looked like they could go another 60 minutes when Kerry were dead on their feet. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 13/07/2024 19:49:39 2558740 Link 0 |
4 different winners in 4 years, not bad for a sport that some people say is dead. Great match today. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2150 - 13/07/2024 19:51:33 2558746 Link 4 |
