I agree… the game is far too late on a Saturday evening for anyone traveling from the West…. The top brass in the GAA just don't give a hoot about supporters…

Eamonn Fitzmaurice reckons Derry will be a 'good challenge' for Kerry Eddie the Exile (Monaghan) - Posts: 1203 - 24/06/2024 20:55:38 2554545 Link 4 |
Yes, Kerry are seeing Derry as a great test ahead of a future meeting with Dublin. Again the shitty scheduling puts Derry at a disadvantage as a rested Derry would give Kerry a great test. History would say if Kerry are to be caught napping its at this stage. Kerry will struggle with Derry's massed defence and if they can get a grip on Clifford Kerry could struggle to get scores. It depends how much Derry have left in the tank but if Kerry are seeing it as a grand test they might get a rude awakening. JahTribe (Galway) - Posts: 155 - 24/06/2024 21:17:42 2554554 Link 1 |
Galway-Dublin should have been fixed for Sunday. But look, I get it, Dublin need every accommodation. maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1226 - 24/06/2024 21:26:25 2554559 Link 2 |
The matches cannot be played over 2 weekends as some teams would then have a huge advantage before the semi finals.

Louth was always gonna be on a Sun as they played yesterday. Of the others, Derry had a later throw in and ET, so the extra day is fairer to them, than Galway... No conspiracy theories needed..... Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4246 - 24/06/2024 22:09:09 2554578 Link 4 |
Armagh should have Louth's number, I like them this year and I also admire Louth's progress. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8753 - 24/06/2024 22:12:32 2554581 Link 0 |
Stupid argument. How does Sunday suit Dublin more than Saturday, or Galway for that matter? No-one in Dublin expects anyone to be pushover. Perhaps there is a lesson there for others? BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3528 - 24/06/2024 22:37:46 2554588 Link 4 |
Your last big day was Dublin in your home pitch and about 450 of you bothered to call over.

In 2023 not one of 4 the Preliminary QF winners won their next game. Monaghan went through on Penalties after a draw but the others were well beaten, Cork by 4, Tyrone by 10, and Mayo by 12 points. Mayo suffered a bigger loss at the hands of the dubs than Monaghan did 2 weeks later which points the toll taken by playing big games 3 weeks in a row. giveitlong (Galway) - Posts: 1278 - 25/06/2024 07:08:33 2554609 Link 0 |
expecting a very tough challenge for our crowd on saturday, if we are still knocking around after 60 mins it could get interesting, issue is this dublin team are able to blow you away in the first half ! ! maroonscan (Galway) - Posts: 4 - 25/06/2024 07:32:54 2554612 Link 0 |
Clearly looking ahead to bigger CHALLENGES, after this game..... 3 games in a row has to take its toll on Derry though. Cant see anything other than a 5pts + win for Kerry tbh. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4246 - 25/06/2024 09:40:04 2554642 Link 0 |
Galway need all their players fit - 3 weeks in a row is tough enough, without having to do it without key men. Dublin need to go at full pelt from the off, and make the Galway lads run out of steam hopefully. Dubs defo need to up their performance, because the Tribesmen are a good team, with excellent players. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4246 - 25/06/2024 09:44:53 2554646 Link 0 |
We wouldn't be that stupid to pay into a turkey shoot..

I don't get the whole oh woe is us lark for having to play a match a week. These lads are as close to pros as you can get. If anything coming off the back of that win will see them at complete match fitness levels and very sharp. I think I'd rather be coming in from that angle being battle hardened than having been playing training matches.

But rarely do. It's almost like they only wake up when they go behind.

8,000 stupid Dubs made the trip. Perhaps they enjoy watching the game performed well? And in fairness there was quite a bit to like about Cavan who have some good players and play the game positively. You wouldn't know anything about that as you couldn't be bothered watching them and drag yourself away from the Old Firm for one day. Joxer, the stats don't lie. Mayo who have ran ye closer than anyone over the past 20 years suffered their biggest loss to Dublin (12 points) in QF last year, after a week of a break. Outside of Dublin, Mayo would be seen by most as the next nearest thing to a pro outfit, and had an excellent record with weekly games via the back door system. One slight mitigating factor that may help Galway avoid being routed, is that a few of our key players are just returning from injury and are fresh, but not match hardened. In 2023 not one of 4 the Preliminary QF winners won their next game. Monaghan went through on Penalties after a draw but the others were well beaten, Cork by 4, Tyrone by 10, and Mayo by 12 points.
