Said I'd watch the first game picked Sarsfields v st Anne's, poor quality game both team looked sluggish particularly st Anne's but they found a bit of life in the second half to do enough. Dee O Keefe didn't feature. Sarsfields we're down a good few bodies, no Lee chin or Richie Lawlor. Can't see any of these teams going far although st Anne's wil improve week on week. Moran kicked a few good scores for st Anne's , their midfield of Liam Schokman and Philip Rawson done well. Liam og featured and done well. At the other end Eoin Roche kept the score board ticking , got a lobbed goal not sure if it was meant. Conor Kehoe got a great goal but they didn't have enough quality in the final third to win.

Darby Purcell and Eoin Roche were playing for Sars last night. And Danny Walsh and Alex Boggan were on the bench.

Watched the Starlights game on a stream and it was terrible stuff with what looked like a tiny crowd and a dead atmosphere.

Thought Kilanerin would win but not my that much. Worrying result for the Starlights all the same to concede that much in those conditions.

Castletown 3 points to 2 at half time against Ballymurn. Sounds like a classic. Kilanerin looked impressive although lot of teams will be down bodies with players booking holidays after the completion of the hurling championship. Also next week electric picnic so first few rounds could see some big results but overall quality very poor so far.

Also on a separate point. Kilanerin have 38 players named for their second team. How can Tara rocks not field on their own!!

Only 15 Tara Rocks players put in for a transfer this year to play football with Kilanerin, which means they've only 15 in their club who expressed interest in playing football. Obvious difficulties there as regards trying to field in your own right.

But as an exercise, have looked to see where these 15 players appear in the programme for this weekend's matches:
- For senior, two Tara Rocks players named to start, and one in the subs (out of a panel of 30).

- The senior sub is the only Tara Rocks player listed to start their Junior match. Four others are listed as subs there, out of that full panel of 38.

So, only seven Tara Rocks player are even listed as members of the Senior/Junior panels. And while I know Junior B fixtures & results are a bit hit and miss on the Wexford GAA website, Kilanerin don't seem to be fielding at Junior B at all - https://wexfordgaa.ie/competitions/table/?compid=194751&swcfpc=1

Meanwhile, in hurling, and according to the programme for their two quarter-finals:
- In Intermediate, three Tara Rocks players named to start, and three in subs, from a panel of 30.
- For Junior A, five named to start (including two of the three Intermediate subs), and nobody named in the subs, from a panel of 28.

And again, no listing for Tara Rocks at Junior B level on the Wexford GAA website.

Overall, going purely by programme listings as way to measure it and allowing for crossover between hurling and football, seems there were just ten active players in the Tara Rocks club this year.

Was at the 2 games in Patricks Park. Both games were scrappy as you would expect from 4 teams playing their first games of football since May or so.
Clongeen and Gorey were no doubt celebrating their county final wins in the hurling also, so much so that Gorey didn't even have a team named on the programme and appeared to have only 4 subs? That being said Clongeen looked the flatter of the 2, and Gorey should've won by more. Dylan Cooke Leonard looked very good, as did Charlie Mcguckin, while Jack Cullen got on alot of ball also. Cushe was solid at the back, and lads called Rian and Cathal also played well. For Clongeen Daryl Murphy looked lively although light but otherwise there was very little movement out of Clongeens forwards.
The 2nd game was a little better quality wise, although there were the misplaced passes and poor wides from both sides that you would expect after so little football played. For Ferns Niall Murphy was excellent, while Ryan Cashen, Conor Murphy and Stephen O Gorman covered alot of ground for Taghmon. Taghmon should probably have won by more, but I still expect Ferns to reach the knockout stages.

Small correction, 3 Tara Rocks on the Kilanerin senior football team. Owley, Hobbs and Breen

Good point overall though

You're right - I overlooked one of them on the senior football team.

For what it's worth, those three senior footballers are the same three as the intermediate hurlers.

Saw a couple of intermediate games and one of the senior games over the weekend.

In intermediate I was disappointed with the performance of the Mary's. Didn't look on it, seem not to have brought that many younger lads through. Seem to be relying on the older lads still, It's a game I expected to be much closer but the martins never really looked in any trouble in all honesty. Martins looked good and will likely just get stronger I feel, Oisin waters at full forward very good along with Ben maddock at midfield the standout players. Mary's lost Alex lynch on a straight red which didn't help.

Was at Shelmaliers match on Sunday. They looked like a team set on giving Leinster another rattle. They seem to have mastered the possession game. Glen Malone was strong for them. Arnie Murphy finished off a typical shels move , theough the hands and nearly walked the ball into the net. That killed off any challenge Fethard had although they looked like a team bet before they went out. Staples got the second goal soccer style finish.

Naomh Eanna used 5 subs and had atleast 3 others togged that weren't used, they just had tracksuits on. Was standing on that side of the field for the two games.
Agree Gorey should have won by more, butchered 2 goal chances in first half.
Taghmon had a good win as well, played some good football.

They prob may win Wex first which they couldn't manage last year.

See Goreys second team gave a walkover in the championship, hangover from the previous weekend? Also loads of teams missing players, injuries etc, players not playing football. Players booking holidays after hurling finished, electric picnic this weekend so will be similar. So wont really know strength of teams till a few rounds in. All in all pretty disappointing start to be honest, very underwelling. Castletown winning 0-3 to 0-2 at half time against Ballymurn.

Hopefully quality etc picks up as we move along.
