Longford or Mullingar. Carrick getting a new playing surface and won't be an option.

They'll have to move their home Tailteann game so.
Ballinamore I presume.

Doesn't seem to be. The All-Ireland Round 2 throw-in times aren't confirmed yet either. Funny that the All-Ireland draw was made early for logistics but the exact fixture details can be confirmed in a week. The preliminary quarter-finals will only have a weeks notice!

Its crazy that still venues, days and times not confirmed for games next weekend, not only just for supporters but for teams themselves in terms of logistics.

For example both Clare and Donegal both have long trips and hotels to plan, surely they know what day game is on at this stage on a bank holiday weekend also?
Tyrone v Clare,
Cork v Donegal,

Once group details are finalised i dont see why all fixtures cant be confirmed before groups start(Provincial councils can confirm fixture details 5/6 months prior to games)

Then the best part was the GAA launching the Group tickets for both All Ireland and Tailteann Cup, which was a positive step to encourage floundering attendances, however for some reason the deadline to purchase these tickets for All Ireland was last Friday at 1pm, when supporters didnt know(and still dont) know what day or time 2 of the fixtures would be on or the location of the last game!! like what people are going to commit in those circumstances? The cynics would near say it was to make people buy individual tickets.
Was the exact same situation the week previous with Tailteann Cup, like zero planning or marketing strategy here.
The group tickets should have been announced earlier as GAA knew these competitions would be happening.

They need to act fast or crowds will continue to drop in current structure

Galway Vs Armagh
Dublin Vs Mayo
This would be a very attractive double header in Croke Park. Two trams up from the west and Armagh always have a large following. While Croke park would not be filled to capacity, there would be up on 60ooo there given the appeal of the teams.
If as expected GAAGO gets those matches, supporters and neutrals would come to Croker as All Ireland series takes shape.

Mayo v Dublin will NOT be in Croke Park.
Galway v Armagh had a crowd of 6 or 7k at their match in Carrick last year.
These are GROUP games which are only attended by the regular followers.
The big day fans, casual fans and bandwagon fans don't go to these.

There were reports yesterday that Mayo have requested that the game is outside of Croke Park and they were told that there are no plans to hold any neutral games in Croke Park.

Sounds as if it came from their "Dublin Joe" playbook. Kildare psyched them out brilliantly with "Newbridge or nowhere" so they must think it might have similar impact on Dublin :-)

Despite the fact that there has never been, is not, nor will there be any plans to have Dublin and Mayo play in Croke Park in round three. As they well knew already.

Or people who want to see a game of football. Sure many league matches have no jeopardy, club matches etc. Is everyone who attends those a fool, or are they possibly people who enjoy getting out to a game and seeing their team play?
I do think it should be 2 from 4 in the group stage, but I'll still attend our games, along with some other 'fools'.

At least in League matches there's points to play for that could lead to promotion or relegation in almost all the matches hence the crowds are better in the league than they are for these meaningless championship games… The Championship was always meant to be played as a knockout competition but the GAA big wigs changed this in order to squeeze more money out of the supporters but this has spectacularly backfired and their greed has driven a generation of people away from the game… that's a shame on them..!!!

The only reason the round robin matches don't attract a crowd is that the system is designed to give the likea of Cavan more games against higher quality opposition.

Sounds like Cavan would be happier taking their annual beating in Ulster and staying home to save money

As opposed to Mayo spending well over a million euro each year to fill the togs at the semi final or final stages… Makes great sense

Below is a fair way to spread the championship around the country

Galway v Armagh - Sligo
Derry v Westmeath - Breffni park
Dublin v Mayo - Hyde Park
Roscommon v Cavan - Longford
Donegal v Clare - Castlebar
Tyrone v Cork - Ennis
Monaghan v Meath - Armagh
Kerry v Louth - Portlaoise

Leitrim picked the wrong year to fix up Carrick

Will Hyde hold the crowd? Its not winner take all but a lot still riding on topping the group and going straight to a quarter final. You would imagine that attract more than 20k?

Perhaps not. Once it caters for the genuine supporters on both sides, fair enough. Be great atmosphere all the same. Looking forward to that one I have to see in contrast to any football so far.

If 8,000 Dubs,go to see Cavan you can be sure that the two biggest crowd pullers of last 15 years will fill Hyde and with leftovers.
