Feel for the same lad who missed the only Armagh penalty twice. Painful. What a terrible system. Same 5 men. Wtf

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "I have to say my heart goes out to Armagh. The last 3 big games they lose are on penalties. Galway quarter final last year. This year's Ulster final v Derry and today. So unlucky. Well done Monaghan but anyone with a heart had to feel for Armagh."
The 3 teams they have lost to on pens have won big games in normal time. Armagh are not able to win big games in normal time - not unlucky and it's a trend with McGeeney during his time with both Kildare and Armagh

Agreed ONeill is pure class , but i wish he would keep the fingers out of the air until the actual game is over, caught out a few times now as for M cManus one of the best, and never gets involved in the nonsense stuff ,As for Tyrone , every team takes a pasting every now and again it was just their turn today

Armagh have no one to blame only themselves. They had great chances at the beginning of extra time when Monaghan were down to 14 men.

Yeah 2 great point chances missed there, and about 1-3 missed at the very start of the game, certainly in the first half. That Armagh team lack clinical finishers, or if they are clinical, they didn't show it today. Armagh shouldn't be focusing on the penalty shootouts, they should be focusing on how they squandered that game by butchering much better offensive situations than Monaghan had, over the whole 90+mins.

Oh for the love of God

I wouldn't have any sympathy for McGeeney. It's his tactics that are the reason they fell short again.

Agreed. Thought the same myself. Stupid system. Burden should be shared.

I thought tactically the two sides mirrored each other. Losing three penalty shootouts is tough as it gets lets be fair regardless of one think of Mcgeeney and Armagh.

Perhaps the least self aware post I've read in a while. Which begs the question; is it satire?

A game neither team wanted to lose more than win. Football threatened to break out for a little while around the 60th minute, but those shoots withered on the vine. Even extra time was über-defensive with Monaghan happy to run the clock down on their black card, and Armagh bizarrely happy to let them. Reminiscent of Galway last week sitting back in the dying minutes of the first half defending when they had the wind behind them. Armagh clearly missed that lesson.

Replying To Galway9801:  "I'd be interested to hear from tyrone posters.
The all Ireland win of 21 should have created the perfect platform for this team to kick on but if anything the squad has been at each others throats since then."
I actually thought Tyrone were starting to click into gear but maybe there's a reason why you don't click. Too much in house fighting, fights in changing rooms after matches, fights after training, fights on breaks away, management clueless. Then you have players hitting in hail Mary balls to the small forward line. Kerry full value for their big win and will take stopping.

I'd prefer a team to show a bit of ambition, extra man at the start of extra time and Armagh had no real desire to push on and make something happen. Lateral passes, afraid to lose. Yawn.

Arra stop. It's. To a zero sum game and doesn't have to be one or the other. That was a brutal game for the neutral, and the one before it was too, though at least some football was played.

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "I m a happy nan obviously and delighted with our win but yeah something not right with Tyrone. I mean two majestic points b4 half time for the Canavans but the team fell asleep afterwards. I was scared of them two boys and we will hear about them again. Now ill enjoy tonight and look forward to the other heavyweight clash tomorrow."
All downhill for us after half time. Some Brazilian football played by Kerry, backs were tigerish and kept Tyrone at bay , midfield on top and Clifford is Clifford. Good luck with your next 2 matches.

Glad Armagh is out. How many years is it since they won anything?

Armagh have been in a position to win big games under McGeeney many times and this keeps happening. They sit in and protect rather than kick on. Monaghan down to 14 and Armagh go negative. Corey has the right to set up any way he wants. They are punching above their weight in his first year. Big difference.

Replying To Jazzyjeff:  "Congratulations to Monaghan who have defied everyone's expectations. A semi-final to look forward to. Something to keep in mind for tomorrow- if Cork turn over Derry and Mayo beat Dublin it is a Cork vs Monaghan semi final."
Why? Kerry have played both Cork and Mayo so it will have to be a draw. Kerry Cork and Mayo were all in the same group. As it turned out it was a very strong group and Louth unlucky to be part of it.

It's actually 'shannonside northern sound', but don't let facts get in the way of perpetuating your own fantasy agenda. And maybe go peddle your political views elsewhere. Facebook loons are this way -->

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "A county like Tyrone wins 4 of the last 20 all-irelands played. Probably leaves them in a pretty sated state, I'd imagine. They don't look that mad hungry for victory these days, and why would they, with one tucked away as recently as 2021."
Pope, but the really great teams don't do satef
