Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "Enjoy listening to Dalys podcast but whenever he gives out about the split season despite nearly every player (the ones that really matter really enjoying it) it reeks of self service. Complains of game being out of shop window for so much of the year....I think it's more tha he's out of the shop window for a lot of the year. Doesn't seem to realize that there's still games on and the other 99% of players are getting games at fixed times now. Feel too many of the pundits are missing being centre stage for longer stretches of the year, maybe if I was loosing out on money for the extra articles/review shows/analysis gigs I'd be against it too!!!"
I enjoy the podcast too but think the success of it has inflated Daly's ego, even the way on he makes childish remarks about the rugby, don't think he'd have done that a few years ago, lost alot of time for him over the last year turning into a typical Clare hurling mouthpiece. Don't get me started regarding him and the split season, claimed on the Sunday Game last year Dublin hurling championship wasn't starting until middle of Sept, every championship bar Mayo football and a couple of football championships in Ulster were at worst in full swing in August, remember him on the podcast saying lads going to the US for the summer showed spilt season not working, I'm sorry lads have been making that journey ever since I remember, no coincidence all the loudest voices against the split season work in the national media, sorry rant over which I know has little to do with Wexford football.

Like TTMHWS, I'm not typing his whole username!, you are spot on as regards Daly. His podcast is entertaining though it has to be said.
1 thing I'd disagree with you about though is that most Clare people Ive come across are actually quiet enough spoken people. Even with all the nonsense over Covid Lohan wasn't ranting and raving, even if I do feel he got it all wrong. Jamsie O Connor is another quietly spoken fella. Tony Kelly and Shane O Donnell don't come across as arrogant or loud any time you'd see them interviewed, or anyone else on the Clare team. Unfortunately for all of them the 2 best known Clare hurling people are Davy and Daly.......

For €11.99 it seems, absolute robbery considering the importance of the competition.

Obviously like all counties plenty of decent people in Clare, was on a stag with a Clare player 3-4 years ago and he was a gent, some of their former players and local media have a serious chip on the shoulder though, the way James Owens was scapegoated after the black card decision in Clare Tipp 2021 game really highlighted this to me, you'd swear they were the 1st and only county at the wrong end of a big referring decision and they made it far to personal towards James, they were at the other end of equally as bad a black card call when Lee Chin was dragged down near the end of the game in Thurles last year, narrative after that game was far different, I've even noticed going to Wexford games the last few years them and Cork are the only counties where the opposition free taker is routinely booed and jeered even at u21 final at 2014 this was happening.

Staff and equipment have to be paid for. And demand for the finished product will be lower. Easy to charge less for a streamed match if you have alot more people buying it. Suppose only 100 people buy it at a fiver each. That wouldn't even pay for its production. Would you rather the games weren't streamed at all?
And btw I'm not cutting at you Beano I know you actually go to most games even at this time of year.

Agree some of their fans can be fairly soccer like at games. But equally to their credit they are a 16th and 17th man for their team. In the last 10 minutes at Semple the Banner roar drove their team to that win over us. The kids hadn't heard anything like it before I think they were fairly impressed. It's something that didn't come across on the telly at all when I watched the game back.
I bought their senior hurling final and at the end you could see TK was very animated with a section of the Eire og crowd who must've been giving him stick during the game. So it's not just intercounty games they are like that with their own!
They do have a bit of a chip on the shoulder but I read on their forum a list of injustices over the last few years, many of which I'd forgotten tbh, and was surprised to find myself agreeing with most of them. They do seem to get the thin edge more than we do or any other county.

Tbf what classifies a good year? Not getting hammered and winning a few games in the league? It's a tough gig for players and management alike. Had a good run where we were competitive with teams and had some big wins from mid 00s to about 2012ish but that was the exception more than the rule. Probably just back to normal. The gap between us and the likes of Kildare, Meath, Down etc is pretty substantial not to mind between us and the likes of Dublin, Kerry, Galway, Mayo etc Have to admire the lads going in especially the lads who've put in many years going back in with essentially no hope (hate saying that) going on a run in the Tailteann would be a good year, still a long way off winning that. Would love to get out Division 4 for starts and that should be the biggest aim of the year(and future) but not looking great ATM or based off last few years. I'm sure players don't want my pity or "aren't ye mighty lads to do it" Just don't have the quality of players ATM and one critism I would have is that we look a long long way off S&C wise, look like a club team the last few years. Even compared to the hurlers (who I think are still just a small bit off the top in their S&C) they look like an underage team compared to them. Rant (i think) over

They are largely a young panel and the older members of it weren't big physically to start with. Most have had no underage success to speak of, nor senior Leinster club success. Also Kildare are a div2, div1 last year, team, and Westmeath were only 1 point off joining them in div2 last year. Westmeath went on to win the Tally ho Cup, and lost narrowly to Kildare subsequently in the Leinster football semi final. They are 2 of the top 4 teams in the Province. We are comfortably in the bottom 4.
Aiming to get out of div4 this year is a big ask. Not impossible but not likely either.
Lads we need a bit of realism . We have a long way to go. We are at the bottom of a hill. The lads aren't going to climb it if us supporters keep pushing them back down it.

Anyone with their head screwed on would judge their progress on league and not pre season competitions when their experimenting, we all know their trying to build from a low base.

Paid for the stream for the Kildare game but glad I didn't today, unfortunately there's lads playing that don't stand out in the Wexford Club Championship nevermind inter county. Not much positives apart from Mark Rossiter who we will rely on heavily in the league. Hegarty has a lot of work to do and will ultimately be judged on whether we get promoted to division 3

Commiserations to Fethard yesterday, given they were playing the team 9th on the Kerry ladder they actually got closer than I expected, scoreline flattered Rathmore a small bit too going on reports.

I fancy Fethard to stay in our Senior Championship for a good spell this time. Some great young players there.

Not sure being promoted will be the ultimate judgement this year but rather being in contention for it is a must
Everyone entitled to their views but who were the better players in the positions from the championship thatvare not already in the panel?

On twitter Louth post saying wexford gone off on Wed they play winner of Dublin v offaly on Sunday. Can only assume we have given walkover or can't fulfil fixture

See Wexford have been given a walkover against Louth in O'Byrne Cup. Disappointing to hear as the footballers need all the games before the League. After been well bet in the town games to date they could have done with a good performance.
