Replying To alwaysasub:  "See Wexford have been given a walkover against Louth in O'Byrne Cup. Disappointing to hear as the footballers need all the games before the League. After been well bet in the town games to date they could have done with a good performance."
Louth said its due to Sigerson games and work commitments, can understand their perspective in fairness, think I read Offaly are going to be short 10 players due to the sigerson for their game vs Dublin.

Replying To Formertownie:  "On twitter Louth post saying wexford gone off on Wed they play winner of Dublin v offaly on Sunday. Can only assume we have given walkover or can't fulfil fixture"
My mistake jumped the gun it was the other way round louth gave walkover . You would think it woukd be good way to get fringe players game time for Louth. .

Replying To zinny:  "Not sure being promoted will be the ultimate judgement this year but rather being in contention for it is a must
Everyone entitled to their views but who were the better players in the positions from the championship thatvare not already in the panel?"
We should be in contention every year to get promoted out of Div 4, if that's not the aim well then we really are at the bottom of the pile, but considering we beat Offaly and Wicklow two teams higher than us on the ladder we have nobody to fear in the division and being happy to just be in contention is the reason we are stuck in the bottom tier.
Regarding players I was at my fair share of club games last year and some of the players that featured in the first couple of games didn't catch my eye. Are there better? I don't know but if you're playing inter county you should really be standing out in these games

It would have been better for us. Our lads need games

That's just not good enough, if a team cannot commit to playing all the games in a competition then they should be thrown out. I know we will get the, it's a dead rubber and it's a long way to go and these are only amateurs, yes but they commented to it all by entering the competition. Counties are being allowed to make up their own rules

Its unfortunate for us but they've lads playing Sigerson today or tomorrow or maybe both, played Westmeath last Wednesday, Kildare on Saturday and Dublin or Offaly next weekend, I can understand why they done it.

Would they have played if fhey needed to win . To set up the big game high profile game vDublin . Would assume so regardless of sigerson Cup fixtures clash .

I see Kildare have pulled out now as well, because their match v Westmeath is also a dead rubber, and because they also have lots of lads involved in Sigerson.

Would say you could be pretty sure though that if these matches weren't dead rubbers, then both themselves and Louth would have fielded all right.

They likely would have but they have probably looked after there own ship like all intercounty managers will, all that is in the mind of Glenn Ryan and Mickey Harte is being ready for a Div 2 league campaign and obviously feel this course of action serves them best in terms of preparation.

It shouldn't be allowed happen. If you concede a walkover you shouldn't be in the competition any more.

Nah no excuse could ya imagine them doing it in the league last game nah we're through so we won't play away to Donegal wexford or whoever. That is scandalous and both teams should be thrown out. Yes it's a preseason tournament but not good enough. And I would be the same if it was wexford

Not a word about the footballers game on Saturday evening in Wexford Park. I guess that come with the territory of not progressing out of Division 4. Huge game on Saturday evening, getting off to a winning start is crucial in this competition, realistically Wexford need to win all four home games and at least one on the road to have a chance of getting into the top two.
Hard to know what to expect with only two O'Byrne Cup games under the belt, however London come into this competition completely under the radar. They took down Carlow in Dr Cullen Park in the opening round last year, so Wexford are forewarned in that regard.
Probably expect to see somewhere between 300-500 Wexford supporters at the game.
I'll go for a home win by 4-5 points. London always pick up a spanking in this competition every year but normally they are at their strongest in the opening rounds.

I think you are being really optimistic there. Like it! I'd take a 1 point win tbh

Just seen the tweet from Wexford GAA showing our footballers in the gym preparing for the London game. Would it not match them better practicing team set up, match ups, tactics and football skills like passing and shooting this close to an important League game?

Hope he is but it would be his call. His fitness and ball skills would be well enough honed. We don't have many natural scoring forwards as it is.
