No wonder we are advised to believe nothing on the Internet. Fellas ravin.

The only evidence is "of course"

Interesting! Do you have proof?

Well if you are naive enough to think these transfers do not include some sort of cash inducements then you can't be helped…!!!

Cavan folk always equate the money factor into things. Didn't the late Neil Toibin make a living talking about them, he'd so much material on it? They can't get over the fact that Seanie left of his own free will, for altruistic reasons, to play football in a better county. No! It had to be for ----- of course. Sure no Cavan man would do it for anything else! foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2118 - 09/08/2022 17:32:43 2436858 Link 3 |
That whole situation was disgrace, shame on him and the strokes kildare gaa pulled.

I can't say with certainty some players get cash payments although I know for a fact some club managers get paid cash. On the players I know of one player that got some of his rent paid by a club. That was about 15 years ago. I know that Stephen Cluxton went public a few years back saying the reason he was nt playing senior for his club was because he did nt agree with the transfer policy etc and while he did nt mention cash he hinted at mobile phone bills being paid and so on. However I genuinely believe that most players transfering to Dublin clubs has more to do with logistics than monetary gain. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 3851 - 09/08/2022 19:13:16 2436871 Link 1 |
I heard Kilmacud Crokes offered Walsh a free lifetime supply of coddle as an inducement, they're notorious for it. ballydalane (Kilkenny) - Posts: 1256 - 09/08/2022 20:36:19 2436881 Link 3 |
I bet you're one of those who cries racism when English football fans boo James McClean. But yeah, generalise an entire group of people based on where they're from. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5215 - 09/08/2022 20:38:39 2436882 Link 4 |
Don't worry I can help myself. I'm just saying because you say "of course there is" without evidence does not mean it's true, and because folk choose to believe something does not mean it's true. And if it's shown that a particular transfer involved cash it does not mean that is always the case. There are lots of people in GAA clubs who would totally oppose such a practice, players too, very difficult to keep a club together in those circumstances

It would be more caviar and lobster out Stillorgan way and not coddle as you suggest !

While we don't always see eye to eye on issues Mr Young it has to be said many of the Cavan posters on this forum definitely reinforce the stereotype!

Clown…. an Inter County transfer is totally different than club… Seani Johnston moved to Kildare to continue playing county football as he had been dropped by Cavan even though he was away their top scorer ( management got that wrong ) but he didn't want to leave his club ( Cavan Gaels )…. The Shane Walsh transfer is different….

Don't worry cavanman - the Scots have that stereotype too. There is an old joke about the Scotsman who installed triple glazing windows in his house to stop his kids from hearing the ice-cream van outside!

Sure coddle is only for peasants.

I don't even know who James McClean is. So, don't bet cavan man. You'd only end up losing your money, and that certainly isn't the cavan way.
