Referee And All- Ireland

Replying To seamusorinn:  "Your original post said the North of Ireland. As a proud Ulster man, I am a Northerner. Not from the South, the West or the East but from the North like all Ulster men and women. And Dublin Joe is also a Northerner. Geography was obviously not your strongest subject in school. And good luck to our fellow Northerner Sean Hurson on his big day in Croke Park. Doubt that club connection will play any part in his decisions."
Good luck to you I said in an earlier post he was one of the best and fairest referees on the circuit at the moment I wish we had Paddy Tally in Cavan he would show us how to defend properly. Who's Dublin Joe.

For your information I've loads of friends from Augher and family living in Tyrone but none from Fivemile Town.

I don't think referring to the 6 counties as northern Ireland makes anybody less of a true Irish man/woman.

You would need to ask the Kerry lads the answer to that.

Joe McQuillan from Crosserlough.

Referred 3 all Ireland's

He also refereed in-house games for Dublin A Versus Dublin B teams prior to some all-irelands to help Dublin understand rules changes. People consider Joe to be partially biased for Dublin which is a tad unfair. I understand he lives in Dublin.

He is called "Dublin Joe" because of the amount of Important Dublin games the GAA had him down to officiate despite the fact that Dublin used him on numerous occasions to referee their in house games… hence the name..!

If Galway win this All Ireland they would be first county outside of Dublin and Kerry to reach double figures in terms of football All Irelands (10) ??? Would be a very significant achievement.

It's not pejorative either way - it just indicates whether you're pro the union with GB or pro a united Ireland.
