Referee And All- Ireland

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

At first glance I was delighted to see Sean Hurson officiating the All-Ireland as many northern referees have been overlooked in recent yrs, but how can this be true - when the most important backroom individually in Kerry is from the same club.
Who makes these decisions ?

Well, it is about 1 month ago that a very vocal Clare poster on here (mute of late....) had it that the CCCC were suspending the Clare players was all because Derek Kent, a Wexford man, was the chair of the CCCC. Not a word about this conspiracy once they cleared to play.
If you scratch for a conspiracy, you can find one. Whether or not it is true, well that's one for some fact checkers who know more about these than me. Maybe that man from The Corrs might know?

One of the best on the circuit and to question his impartiality is wrong. Here is one person delighted he got the big gig and wishing him the very best of luck.
Also to see our own Paddy Neilan as standby is great news, here's hoping for a draw and Paddy to get the replay

If Hurson is one of the best on the circuit then God help us all…. and if the Kerry selector or whatever is from the same club then it's another massive balls up by the GAA…. As I said before about refereeing appointments… can they get anything right…?

Are ye ever happy? Maybe if Cavan make it to final you'd be happy with Joe as ref.

An excellent referee. One of the very few who will call forwards who grab the arm (a real bug bare of mine) of a forward and go to ground in order to simulate a free as he did early doors in the Ulster Final with Paddy McBrearty. Even though it was a call against my own county I applauded him and respected him for it.

I'd say his own ambition to ref an All Ireland final well would be above helping a club member add to his CV.

He's not from the north he's from the south.

I think Referee Hurson is a good choice for final. I have complained for years that officials from that area of Ireland get overlooked. Well done GAA.

Thought he was from Cavan. But maybe Cavan has moved to Munster.

He is from Cavan and unless they moved the border Cavan is in the 26 counties are you insinuating Donegal and Monaghan are also in the north.

Partitionist mindset is still strong in Cavan, shameful comment on a GAA forum,

So you are saying that Donegal is not in the north, I take it you haven't been to Malin Head then.

Well I never knew malin head was in Derry I must check it out with my malin head friend so Donegal is now in the north when did they steal that county. I was merely pointing out to an earlier poster who was commenting on your county man Sean Hurson refereeing the Ai and him being from the north of Ireland and how it created a lot of interest from other posters he didn't see any problem with that as he said Joe Mc Quillan had done about six and he's a northern referee. I replyed that Joe McQuillan is from Cavan and that's not in Northern Ireland so don't see what your problem is he's not from Tyrone, also Sean Hurson is one of the best referees on the scene and a very fare one.

Donegal is the most northerly county of all 32. Look at a map or even think back to school.

You said in an earlier post that Donegal is not in the north, you are now saying that Malin Head is in Derry., enough said. All true GAA supporters recognise Ulster as having nine counties, "Dublin Joe" was indeed a northern referee and good luck to his fellow Ulsterman next Sunday.
