Replying To Bon:  "Maybe they feel people would have more interest in the euro's"
I've no problem with RTE showing the womens Euros or TG4 showing hours and hours of the Tour de France where there were no Irish cyclists. However I feel as a licence payer they have a responsibility to show the World Athletics when there are Irish athletes taking part. To qualify for the world championships is a major achievement. We get hours and hours of all levels of GAA, Soccer,Rugby, Horse Racing etc etc but they ignore the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. We'll have a very large dose of the Galway Races now to highlight one of the biggest drinking festivals in the country. They always showed the athletics years ago but not anymore. They could have an hour long highlights programme each evening. We're lucky to have the BBC.

RTE have enough dead wood in their sports department. Get rid of some of them and the savings in salaries be put to the broadcast budget.

Give me Ted Walsh over Dermot Bannon or Baz whatever his name is any day. And I'm not a horseracing fan.

St. Pat's too, great for Ireland's UEFA coefficient.

I've heard Ruby on the radio talking about football, rugby and other sports. He's an expert on everything.

You have to be able to believe in what you are looking at. Unfortunately with athletics that is now very difficult.

Unfortunately with the present state of gaelic football that too can be very difficult.

City will win it I think.

I think Everton will struggle again. I'll be putting money on them to go down and Lampard to be the 1st manager to get sacked.

I actually backed Lampard to be 1st manager sacked in the 20/21 season but West Brom sacked Bilic a couple of weeks beforehand. He's a fraud of a manager.

Hopefully Liverpool can win it. I think it will be close between themselves and city again. Spurs might be the best of the rest but often flatter to deceive. The remaking two champions league places are up for grabs.

Man Utd still look a mess with Ronaldo throwing his toys out of the pram again. I think they need him off the books asap.

Yeah I think Liverpool could do it, especially if Haaland doesn't quite fit in at City and it takes him and team longer than expected to adapt to each other. Some of Liverpool's key players (Diaz, Salah, Robertson) will get a nice wee World Cup break too.

The Ronaldo situation is laughable but just typical of how they've been run over the last decade. They basically signed him for sentimental and financial reasons, not football. Yes he scored goals but paradoxically he made the team worse. The best modern teams all apply a high press but Utd are incapable of this with Ronaldo in the team. Pressing only works if all components are working in tandem. If one link (Ronaldo) isn't doing it, then it's a waste of time and good teams can easily cut through the press.

If he had any manners or self awareness he'd keep the head down and work hard under the new manager. But no. The whole summer has become the Ronaldo show and what he wants. Ten Hag is being shrewd. Ideally he'd like him out the door as soon as possible but he's politically savvy enough not to be seen to wanting to chase a Utd legend out the door.

What big Champions League team realistically need or would want Ronaldo at this stage of his career?
Real Madrid - they have proven they can win it without him.
Liverpool - LOL
City - LOL
Chelsea - already ruled out signing him. Would be like signing Lukaku again.
Bayern - Ruled themselves out
PSG - Just maybe the sort of crazy, vanity type signing they might have made a few years ago but even they have appeared to realize the folly of cramming their squad full of egos.

What's stopping him taking a pay cut and moving back to the club he started with? Give a few years back to Sporting Lisbon and increase their profile as well as the leagues?

As a Spurs fan I'm really looking forward to this season, and I'll be going to the game v Southampton on Saturday.
Antonio Conte has changed the club already in the short time he's been there, not so much in the players that he has brought in (who have been excellent), but more in the mentally that he has, he's a winner; and hopefully we'll win a trophy this season (been a long time since the last one).
I think Man City and Liverpool will take the top 2 spots, again, this season, the are still a bit ahead of the rest.

I think 3rd place will between us (Spurs) and Chelsea. Chelsea have had some upheaval over the last month or so, and they still haven't sorted out all there transfer business. Whereas, Spurs are settled, transfer business done. Besides, I think Spurs are a club on the way up.

Although Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market, and have had a good preseason, their squad lacks depth and experience. Plus, playing on Thursday nights in the Europa League will take it's toll.

As for Manchester United, what can I say? New manager, new broom, and still the same old problems; they are a laughing stock. That said, they have enough quality players to make sure they'll finish in the top 6.
COYS!
