Was watching a game that England needed a last second kick to win,, having been a man up for 10 minutes of it.
Ireland could easily have won that game and if they had you wouldn't have been half as harsh on them.

I'd agree we were poor. And I'd agree England played out of their skins.
But they still needed just about every bounce of the ball going to come the right side of that game.

We were also well below par in beating Wales by 17 points. That's a good sign. .

GAA county teams get slagging from people about bottling games and they are amateurs. No bigger bottlers than Ireland rugby .

That's a silly assessment imo. There was nothing fortuitous whatsoever about that result. England also 'played out of their skins' at the recent World Cup semi, when they were just pipped by world champions South Africa's scrum penalty machine in the final moments. Teams, punters, and fans alike, might need to be more wary of England's capacity to 'play out of their skins', when they're fully motivated to do so.

We played second fiddle on the day to a determined England side who stole victory from the jaws of defeat in the comfort of their own kitchen.
Difficult to explain that result when dealing with more negative knockers than positive critics.

First up,i dont play Rugby but do like to watch it so I certainly dont know as much about the game as some on here do so go easy. England deserved to win yesterday.They played the ball through the hand and ran at Ireland at speed yesterday.They didn't kick the ball half as much as i thought they would.They had very few handling errors even though when running at us we hit them hard.They had the home crowd behind and the carrot of stopping Ireland potentially doing another Grand slam.How many times to we see that. They disrupted our lineout and won at least two key ones inside their own 22.I wouldn't be too hard on Ireland lost nash after 4 mins and o mahony to the sinbin and never came back on always hard when your Captain is missing but yet lead right to the death showing lots of character and beaten by the final kick.It was frustrating but a good game to watch.We did make some strange decisions but were under serious pressure from England.Tough one to take but dust down for next week.

I would say it was fortuitous that our right wing was lying prone on the ground when they scored their first try down our right wing.

I would say it was fortuitous that Frawley was concussed when they round him for their second try.

And I would certainly say Ellis Genge was fortunate not to be red carded for his shoulder barge to a prone Tadhg Furlong at ruck time.


England were good. Ireland were bad. England still needed a lot of fortune to come out the right side of the result.

It's a collision sport. You hit them so they don't get up and involved in the next phase or those after that. Same for both sides. And finding out the official's limits umis part of the game, bend and break the rules if you get away with it. O'Mahony was right to gamble, try slowing down England's momentum, give away three points at worst, let the officials make the call. But he wasn't missing a tackle when they scored when he was in the bin. They'll train for as many scenarios as they can. Being a man or two up or down. Should be ready for that. Farrell won't be telling them England were fortuitous. He'll be looking to try and correct any mistakes made and learn and improve. Too many missed tackles. Was 2 backs on the bench too complacent and restricting any gameplans? Hindsight is no use if it doesn't help them improve.

Always the same from the rugby media and their fans running away from the truth and what really happened. Look at the NZ qame and the whole narrative was about poor Johnny crying and very little analysis about why we aren't good enough and no criticism of players, contrast that with the savage criticism amateur GAA players get and Irish soccer players being ridiculed by pundits. Maybe the Irish rugby support in the main couldn't really care less and an Irish game is just a reason to have a few pints and a day out and win or lose we'll drink on and who really cares about the result.
