If the premise of a joke is a complete (deliberate?) misunderstanding of basic pronouns and language used for thousands of years then I think you need to work on your punchlines. or just accept humour is not your strong point. It's fine, it's not for everybody Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12234 - 13/03/2024 13:40:15 2531034 Link 1 |
Anyway, sin is just a religious construct we were taught as young boys by men in dresses called father for some reason

Major gamble on the John Joe horse Bill Scott in bumper. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 13/03/2024 17:23:03 2531055 Link 1 |
I take it you mean Bill Joyce. I'm not here to gloat, but bumpers, especially at Cheltenham are races I very rarely gambling on.

It was strange one. There had been ante post moves for the horse which John Joe withdrew last week so might have either been carried onto Bill Scott with notion that he might have been better! Had good enough form on the ground. One of biggest on the day gambles of recent years but horse was beaten long ways out. State Man and Gaelic Warrior were my main ones. Majestic got beat and nothing much appeals today or tomorrow. El Fabiolo will take heat off Ruby and the Legend of Annie Power :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 14/03/2024 06:35:53 2531082 Link 0 |
Gloating by the way is when you achieve something and then unsportingly boast about it. I don't think it really applies to doing nothing :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 14/03/2024 08:16:29 2531086 Link 1 |
But I didn't do nothing yesterday. I had 3 winners and 3 placed, a profitable day. Didn't want to mention it, as it might have sounded like I was gloating :-).

Dublin locals can sigh a breath of relief that Rangers fans won't be flocking to the City in June. DuhallowRed (Cork) - Posts: 304 - 14/03/2024 22:22:03 2531188 Link 2 |
Liverpool will likely make it tho. And the origins of both clubs are remarkably similar. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5215 - 14/03/2024 22:59:52 2531190 Link 1 |
Hopefully Liverpool make it. Will be great for Dublin's economy. The Hillsborough memorial match took place at Ibrox did it? Let's not get into a who is more republican or loyalist than who…it's childish. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11433 - 15/03/2024 08:19:48 2531200 Link 0 |
Correction. The final is in May

The Hillsborough game was in Sheffield Wednesday's ground.

He's talking about the memorial match, which was played in Celtic Park.

Backed Gerri Colombe at 10/1 a while back and to place in first four at evens yesterday, 5/1 now. To cash out or not to cash out?? BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 15/03/2024 13:09:00 2531246 Link 0 |
For once I made the right decision :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 15/03/2024 15:48:05 2531274 Link 0 |
Had all 4 of the 1st 4 in dockets they were the only 4 I backed in the race. Did a tricast then in the last race, backed 6 horses and picked 3, 5 of the 6 finished in the top 5, and 2nd, 3rd and 5th were in my tricast. So near yet so far away! Still was a good Cheltenham for me, after the worst first day I had in 30 odd years. Ended up up 70 euro after the last race was run. Was down around 180 after the 1st day.

A lot of people lose the run of themselves. Lot of nonsense about bookies losing. They lay most of liability off on exchanges and cleaned up on some races including the Albert Bartlett today and the hunters. I knew lads who were in the Berties Dream syndicate which won that race in 2013. 66/1 in morning and SP 33s. They won a fair pile as did a few of us here but when one of them was collecting his few grand the bookie told him he'd kept over 90% of the book! Rugby players on the Late late,I suppose RTE thought Ireland would be going for grand slam tomorrow. mooncat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 538 - 15/03/2024 21:55:57 2531297 Link 1 |
Even if they get beaten by Scotland they will still be nominated as team of the year. Dublin 4 and it's satellites are increasingly out of touch with the rest of us. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3300 - 15/03/2024 22:58:53 2531305 Link 0 |
More to do with the fact both already employed by rte in some capacity (I think). There hasn't been a guest on that show in the best part of a decade who wasn't either contractually obliged or had something to plug cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5215 - 16/03/2024 00:12:37 2531309 Link 0 |
